After hearing about Uzi's childhood I felt really bad that she didn't have that much of a proper and fun childhood. All that happened to her wasn't fair.
"Uzi!" I shouted, bursting into the room, "We're going to go out!"

Uzi looked up at me, confused. She was sat on the floor drawing something.
"What do you mean by that?"
"You know! Like someone would with their child! You didn't go out much did you? So let's go and give you the childhood you didn't have!"
"Huh?"
"We're going out so get dressed please!" I begged.
"Uhm okay."

When Uzi was finished, she met up with me by the door.
"It's been a while since I've been out anywhere with anyone..." She murmured to herself.
"Well im going to make sure you have a good day!"

I grabbed Uzi's hand and began to drag her along behind me. I wanted to take her out somewhere she would remember. I wanted to do something that really ment something to her. I had one idea so I would start there and plan along the way.

"Crepes?" Uzi asked looking up at me.
"Yep. It's the one that you went to with your Mom!"
"Can... I have one?"
"Why else would we come to a crepe van?"

I walked up to the counter and picked up a crepe with fresh strawberries in it. I handed it over to her and she immediately began to eat it.
"Can I ask a question Yamai?"
"Go ahead."
"Why were you so intent on helping me?"
"Well, I guess you kinda reminded me of myself when I was younger. Also that Atsushi dude got to help Kyoka so it seemed a tiny bit unfair that he could help her and I wasn't allowed to help you," I started to mumble.

She smiled a little bit before talking another bite of her crepe. We sat down together on a bench when I noticed someone I knew walking by.
"Hey Tomioka!" I called out to him, "Come over here!"
I could see him look at Uzi and then back at me. He looked quite nervous about coming over but he did it anyway.
"You're 11 aren't you Uzi?"
She nodded back to me as a reply so I covered her ears.
"Why do you look so scared? Don't want to sit next to a kind child?"
"I think you misunderstood the word kind!"
"I think you misunderstood her whole fucking life!"
"Hey..." He said pointing at me raising an eyebrow. I groaned before handing him 1,000 yen. We had an 'effectively swear jar' but instead of putting it in the jar we just give it straight to each other.
"I don't think you saw what everyone else saw when you met her," He hissed.
"You weren't even there!"
"But Ranpo told me what happened."
"Well, you are coming along with me and Uzi whether you like it or not!"

After I said that, I uncovered Uzi's ears and smiled at her. I told her that Tomioka was going to join us on our day out.
"Why does he look so annoyed?"
"He hates kids. Come on! Let's go!"

The three of us continued to shop around and take Uzi around Yokohama. Tomioka kept telling Uzi things that you probably shouldn't tell an ordinary 11 year old but I guess she had seen alot already in her life so I let him continue. My aim for today was to get Tomioka to trust Uzi and feel safe enough around her.
"When me and Yamai went on our first date we were nearly both murdered. You probably know the guy who did i-"
"Stop telling young kids about our first date. It was a mistake that we went on it. Sure next time we'll be more careful."

I turned around to see Tomioka blushing. I was trying to think if I said anything particularly embarrassing but I couldn't place my finger on it. He could probably see me staring so he finally said, "You think there will be a next time?"
"Well yeah unless one of us dies before we get a chance to. You're a good guy. So yeah I like you."
"Kiss," I heard Uzi mutter under her breath.

When we got back to my apartment. I let Uzi go and get into something more comfortable while I asked Tomioka the question I was hoping the answer would have changed from earlier.
"So. How do you feel about Uzi now?"
"Well she's nice I guess. She didn't try murder me so thats a yes for me," He smiled giving me a thumbs up and I just laughed.

Uzi walked back in. She looked like she had something on her mind.
"Yamai there's a little detail that I left out yesterday. I have these scars on my back. I tell everyone it's because of my ability. In reality, my father tried to slit open my back and pull my ability out with his own two hands."
"Uzi why didn't you tell me that yesterday?!"
"I don't know. I guess I just forgot."
"That doesn't seem like the sort of thing you just forget," Tomioka said.
