With my last beacon of hope, I texted him around 12 PM, 'Janaab?

'Still in meeting. Can't come. Sorry.' He replied after 5 mins, knowing what I was referring to.

I sucked in for air and snuggled in my pillow. My throat became tight as I hide my face in the pillow.

"This girl just woke up an hour ago and is again snuggling in blanket." My mum mumbled to pops while shaking her head in disappointment, oblivious to my teary eyes.

A few minutes later I got a hold of myself and got up to carry on with my daily duties, brushing aside the heaviness in my heart.

.
.
.

"Oh the books are available now?" I wondered as I checked the college groups, filled with tons of messages. The syllabus, PDFs, and updates, all were piled up.

After scrolling some more, I put aside my phone and grabbed the novel I was reading.

I re-read the paragraph thrice but not a single word went inside my brain, even though this book was interesting.

My focus was lost.

I closed the book and laid down to watch some series, but couldn't help but zone out again and again. Not a single thing was helping me in diverting my mind, so I opened the Telegram app and texted the person who was the reason behind all this.

'Hey?'
After sending the text I waited for a few minutes while glancing at the time.
It was already past evening.
I wonder what he is doing.

'Ji,' his text pops up after 5 minutes.

'What's up?'

'In the wedding'

'Wait. Are you in delhi?', with furrowed eyebrows I typed in.

'Yea I came with my family later.'

'Oh.'

So he is in Delhi.
Just a few kilometers away.
But unfortunately we can't meet.

I sighed and snuggle back in my blanket. A few mins later my phone buzzed again. It was zoe, asking me if we can go together to collect our books tomorrow. With a pout face I agreed and bury my face back into the pillow.

And suddenly an idea hits me.

I sit up straight quickly checking the time.

8:45 PM

I quickly text him but he was offline. So I spammed him three to four SMS until he replied.

'Hey.
HEY.
REPLY.
ITS EMERGENCY.'

'haaaa. bolo' (yeaaa. say)

'can you stay one night here?'

'I'm on my way to home.'

Shit!
'how far did you reached?'

'ghaziabad'

He was already near the Delhi's border. I throw my phone on the blanket, closing my eyes.

Just by few minutes.
I got late just by a few minutes.

I tried to hold back my tears when my phone buzzed again.

'Why? What happened'

'I can come tomorrow morning. So I thought maybe you can stay a night in delhi? But I got too late to ask.'

'even if you had asked early it wouldn't had done much difference.' His text pops up as I wipe my eyes.

'why?'
