Kain quickly flew into battle attacking people that were clearly supposed to be dead. Reanimated corpses attacking people quickly found the magic keeping them alive drained into Vulneri.
Kain sliced through the abdomen of another corpse when he made eye contact with Shuriken. Shuriken drew his sword as Kain began to strike at him, blow after blow breaking through Shuriken's defense again and again as Kain's swings moved faster and faster.
Shuriken fought to keep up with Kain's speed as Kain lunged to the side before slicing through Shuriken's side, cutting right through the steel breastplate. Kain swiftly swung his leg, kicking Shuriken right at his neck sending him down to the ground, bleeding from multiple wounds. Something that took Kain hours to manage as a human just took a few seconds shy of half a minute.
Kain smiled as he shoved his sword through Shuriken's knee and said, "Good job, brother. Gotta go. Try not to bleed to death while I'm gone. Toodles." Kain ripped the sword and rushed back into combat slicing and severing the reanimated corpses.
As Kain was doing that Ryan was moving house to house pulling people out of the fear radius around Arthur. Once they were able to move he helped them start running away before running back to start the whole process over and over again.
Every time he returned things got more and more complicated as corpses crawled up from centuries of dirt they were buried under and attacking people. Ryan did his best and every so often he'd see Kain swinging down the corpses as the jewel in the pommel of the sword shone brighter.
After ten minutes of doing so, Ryan was sweating bullets, and when he went to enter the town again he was greeted by Igneus.
Igneus seemed different, his skin was paler, his eyes were dull, almost a brownish blue. He seemed taller and a smile was loosely hung on his lips.
Ryan slowed as he saw Igneus. Igneus clicked his tongue and said, "Funny, you and Kain, what, are y'all like a thing? I can smell him all over you."
Ryan found that his bravado failed as Igneus seemed more irritated and Ryan felt the shock on his neck last time he and Igneus had an encounter. Igneus spoke again, "Really pathetic. He goes from my mom to you. A downgrade of the most insulting kind. You're not even a human."
"I don't have to-"
Igneus swiped his hand to the side, anger fueling him, "Shut the hell up! You're nothing but a distraction from my Father! He has the potential to be the strongest Fate in the world. Easily. But instead you sit there and weaken him with yourself."
Ryan took a step back as Igneus advanced, "You are his bane Ryan. For that, I'll feed you your own heart."
Kain dug his sword into a corpse and with a twist pulled the sword to look how the evaluation was going. It was then he saw Igneus and Ryan. Kain went to go to Ryan's aid when Arthur stepped Infront of him. Arthur let out a hiss, flicking his tongue out, "Well, come to me my grandson. Come to me and perish." Kain twirled Vulneri once, switching his grip backwards and said, "Come at me. I dare you."
Ryan shook his head violently as Igneus said, "What? Don't want to die? Then how about this. Get me Kain's eyes. Just pluck them right out of his skull. Okay?"
Arthur began to circle Kain, when in the span of less than a second Kain absorbed all the energy in Vulneri and with a boom following him, switched back to a regular grip and lunged the blade into Arthur. Or, he would have.
Vulneri hit the scales and with a jet of sparks chipped the top and slid on Arthur before sliding on the scales in a show of sparks as the speed Kain had moved him. Arthur grabbed Kain's arm and with a small twist the whole lower part of his left arm broke straight in half.
Ryan paled, "His... Eyes?"
"Yeah. Grab em and give them a good twist. Just rip it off. Rip it off and give them to me."
Kain dropped Vulneri and screamed as his bones snapped back into place and healed. Kain went to grab Vulneri but Arthur grabbed it first, "My old sword. Guess you're useless now." Arthur went to snap it.
Ryan shook his head applauded as Igneus said, "Back to step one. Time to kill you."
"FINE!" Ryan shouted, surprising himself. Igneus smiled, patted Ryan shoulder.
Kain lunged at the sword, ripping it from Arthur's grip as Arthur vanished in front of him.
Igneus and all of the Fate's with him were teleported to a cave close by. Igneus knelt and started to heal Shuriken, grumbling as Arthur began to swear profusely.
The full weight of what Ryan just agreed to do hit him as Kain advanced, a scar where his tibia pierced his skin. Ryan developed into tears and Kain sheathed Vulneri before grabbing Ryan in a hug.
Igneus mentally screamed at Ryan, "NOW! HIS EYES!"
Ryan sobbed more as the mental screaming hurt him beyond his comprehension as Kain held him and asked gently, "Ryan? Are you okay?"
Ryan muttered, "I can't do it. I'm so sorry."
Kain shushed him gently and kissed him on the forehead, "It's okay, Ryan. It's okay."
With a roar Igneus punched the wall, blood dripping from his knuckles as he said, "That's it. We're gonna go get a giant ocean dragon, and we're gonna kill and revive it to kill those fuckers. Since Shuriken is a useless Fate unable to hold his own against Kain-"
The sound of his own voice saying his dad's name silenced Igneus almost immediately. Igneus breathed, rubbing his arm over the small rip on his arm as the teleportation requirements were greater than his stored energy. Because he still needed energy it was taken from his flesh. Igneus said, "Okay, this is still salvageable. Let's go."
Arthur threw Shuriken over his shoulder since not much healing had happened and said, "Let's go Mr.Waste-of-space."
