***Trey's POV***

I'm sprinting toward the store as fast as I can. Which honestly isn't that fast. I've never been that sporty. I've always been skinny and I have a pretty nice body, if I do say so myself, but i don't know why because I don't work out and I eat like an elephant.
May I also point out that I have asthma. I can barely run half a mile without dying.
And even though Dani can be such a pain sometimes, she's worth dying for.
I would never hear the end of it if she found out I felt that way about her. She can be annoying but she's my little sister and I have to look out for her and I have to protect her. Even though she believes she doesn't need any help and she believes she's all grown up, she's wrong. She will always be my little sister and my responsibility. I need to learn how to take care of her better and I can't believe that I just let her run off like that. I was already feeling guilt in the pit of my stomach. The same guilt I felt with Gracie. I couldn't let this happen again.
Gracie...
I saw her every time I closed my eyes. I took all the blame for that. People told me it wasn't my fault. They told me that nobody could have stopped it, but they were lying. Somebody could have stopped it, I could have.
I pretty much ruined Dani's life. My parents life. My life. Gracie had friends and everybody was left there. Lonely and hopeless because of my careless actions, and after that came my cowardly actions. Actions that I thought would help me, but it really just hurt the people around me more.Tears start to cloud my eyes and I wipe them away before I trip.
I start closing in on the store. I keep my steady pace until I hear a bone shattering scream.
Dani's scream.
No
I push my feet to go even faster. My legs are aching and my breathes are short and shaky.
I make it to the front of the store and rush up to the doors. There is a big hole in the glass where Dani must have climbed in.
I bend over and look through the gaping hole. I see something moving towards the back of the store. It's surrounded by a huge mob of dead people.
Oh god.
What if it's Dani.
I crouch in front of the glass and start screaming her name, but If they are all crowded around her I don't think she would be able to hear me.
I see the mob moving in the back through what I think is a door.I grip my gun in my hand and slowly slip through the hole in the glass.
I creep into the back with my gun in my hand and pointed in front of me. I've never really had proper gun training, but I know how to aim and fire.
I lean up against the wall next to the back doors before taking in a deep breath and swinging around the corner into the back.
Dead scatter the area but there is no Dani.
It can't be.
She must have gone out another door. She's probably already back at the house. She knows where we came from.
I sprint back to the front and out through the little hole just in time to see the sun setting.(Sorry about me not updating in ages. Crappy chapter, I know. I'm sorry. But who do yall think Gracie is and what do you think happened to her?? Anyways please check out troubled, my other book, and like and comment on both books)
