Over the past few weeks, Jaune had encountered the black-haired child and engaged in discussions with her. He offered her a challenge: if she had the determination to grow strong and shape her own life, she could rise above any rule imposed upon her. This ignited a spark in the girl named Cinder, leading her to rebel against her "family." The deteriorating state of the once-prestigious hotel reflected her resistance. Despite enduring tremendous suffering, she refused to give in, a resilience that impressed Jaune. He observed her progress from the Glass Unicorn, continuing to enjoy his red wine that Cinder would secretly provide, a gesture he accepted and even kept the bottles.

Cinder found herself indebted to Jaune for his assistance in empowering her to take control of her life. However, her journey was not without challenges, and the pain and mockery she endured only fueled her growing resentment toward her oppressors.

One day, Cinder presented a silver platter of food and a bottle of red wine to Jaune, addressing him with respect.

Cinder: Here you go, sir.

He acknowledged her with a nod and sampled the food. Unbeknownst to Cinder, her actions occurred while she had her back turned to the elder woman who had mistreated her. Despite Jaune not being the kindest individual, he couldn't tolerate needless suffering. He lent aid when it benefited him or eliminated a threat with a swift swing of his blade.

Over time, Cinder's trust in Jaune deepened. The girl overall started to enjoy his company despite how he acts and speaks but despite all of this, She eventually approached him to request training in order to become strong. Observing Jaune's prowess with the massive blade at his side, she recognized his strength. Soldiers and senior students who encountered Jaune would often recoil in fear and trepidation, a sight that oddly excited Cinder. These reactions was what she wanted to see on the very people who were meant to be her "family."

Jaune seized the opportunity to test Cinder's mettle, intending to gauge her determination. He attempted to lead her away from the Glass Unicorn, only to be halted by the elder woman. However, the near-death experience proved to be a pivotal moment. A massive blade came within inches of the woman's eye, the threat of death palpable. The encounter had a profound impact on Cinder, igniting a strange delight within her. The image of wielding Jaune's dangerous blade and evoking fear in those she despised brought her an unexpected sense of joy. Slowly, she found herself succumbing to the personalities of her "family."

This particular day led them to an abandoned building down the road. Jaune tossed her a single dagger, a tool he carried to deal with small threats. Cinder understood the purpose; he was testing her. She launched a strike at him, only for Jaune to expertly parry every blow with a finger coated in his Aura... a mark of his Aura manipulation prowess, honed through extensive experience. Despite Cinder's agility, she was outmatched by the 13-year-old swordsman who stood a noticeable height taller than her. The exchange, while short-lived, highlighted Jaune's superior skill as he easily overpowered her efforts. It became clear that even her natural agility wouldn't be enough against his practiced techniques.

Her frustration growing, Cinder eventually set aside the dagger and slumped to the ground, panting. Jaune regarded her with disappointment, his eyes fixed on the defeated girl before him.

Jaune: Tell me, what is your desire once you've obtained power, weak one?

Cinder met Jaune's gaze, her anger directed inward for her own weakness. Her clenched fist reflected her internal struggle against her perceived shortcomings.

Cinder: I....

Cinder pondered what she would do with the power that could grant her the freedom to escape control and preserve her happiness. It was a selfish yet understandable aspiration in the eyes of Jaune. Despite the apparent hypocrisy of his own ambitions, his plans to become the world's strongest swordsman were driven by a desire for strength, growth, and the pursuit of his dreams.
