CHAPTER TWO
( COUCH )
( ♱ ) ━━━━━ HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK. Atsushi looked at Dazai who was asleep on his couch again. This was the second time that week that he had found the boy sprawled out on his couch. In the short amount of time that he had known Dazai they had become close friends— close enough for Dazai to sneak inside his house to sleep. Atsushi had slowly learned why and when he would do so, and it all seemed to connect once he thought of it.
After a few calls to Kunikada each other it happened at first it became clear. The boy learned more about Dazai in that time, more than what he, himself had said. He quickly sent a text to Kuikada and sighed, leaning against the wall and watching Dazai with calm breathing.
Dazai had only ever come over in the middle of the night like this if he had failed a suicide attempt. It was clear every time. Sometimes there would be mark, dirt, or just signs of an attempt.
He had quickly learned to read the boy at times like these, though this time there wasn't anything noticeable on him. Which surprised Atsushi. Usually there would be at least one little sign, but there was nothing.
"What am I going to do with you, Dazai..." Atsushi inwardly sighed and rested his head against the wall. He wasn't sure what to do.
Kunikada had only replied with a simple Okay meaning he had marked it down.
He didn't want to be alone on this so he sent out another message but this time it was to Chuuya. A long time friend of Dazai, probably Dazai's closest friend. He didn't wish to bother him like this but it was another one of his attempts after all, he had to tell him. It was only right.
It didn't take long until Chuuya showed up, knocking harshly on the front door until Atsushi answered. Letting him in and towards the couch that Dazai occupied.
Then the two of them stood there, staring at the sleeping boy. Neither of them didn't know whether to wake him up or leave him sleeping peacefully, times like these were the most difficult. This happened every time but it never got easier.
"I wish he wouldn't do this." Chuuya softly spoke in order not to wake him. He hardly felt like time and when he ever did, it was always because of Dazai. "It'll never get through his thick skull."
The lighter haired boy looked at Chuuya with sympathy. He knew that he had dealt with this for years, he felt bad for even messaging him.
"I don't know why he chose my couch," Atsushi couldn't remove his eyes from Dazai's frame. "He could also go to yours or Kunikada's, so why mine?" He questioned quietly.
