() ━━━━━ IT WAS EARLY MORNING WHEN DAZAI LEFT WITHOUT A WORD. He spent the night on Chuuya's couch and left as soon as he woke up, not wanting to overstay his welcome. Their conversation was tense, but it was eye opening for him.

It became clear why he found himself so interested in her— she was close to being the same as him. Shiemi was a puzzle to him as he was to others, but now he finally understand.

It was addicting almost. He wanted to find out more. He wanted to further understand Shiemi.

So he went to the only place he knew where to find the girl— the park. It was weird to go back to the park after their last encounter though. He felt strange but couldn't stop himself. The closer he got the stronger the feeling became.

"Mommy, do we have to leave?" The sound of a young girl crying became audible, he could see her trying to stop her mom's pull on her hand.

He silently watched as they walked past him, leaving the park behind.

"Because," The woman huffed, walking faster. "you don't need to be around all those lowlifes."

Dazai wasn't sure why but he could fee his eye twitch at that comment, he didn't like how she said that. She didn't have any right to comment on others, but he wasn't one to stop people. He could only watch and ignore.

The boy continued his walk inside and park and straight to the back area, his eyes occasionally wandered around him to see the different types of people inside the park.

There were definitely different types of people within the gates of the park. He noticed few homeless people, for example. Maybe he could see why the woman wanted to take her daughter out of there.

"Shiemi." Her name left his mouth as soon he saw her, the girl stood a few feet away from her.

Her body turned to face his, her hair covering her face. "Oh, Osamu." She still called him by his name. "What are you doing here?"

"I just wanted to see you?" He didn't even sound sure of himself.

"Okay, well today isn't a good time." She faced away from him once more. "Could you please leave me alone?"

There was something off about her this time around. The reflection wasn't all that clear, instead it was cracked. There was a crack in the mirror and he didn't like that.

He furrowed his brows. "Is there something wrong with you?"

"I'm not sure." She responded simply with a shrug of her shoulders. "I just don't want you here."

"Well that sucks, cause i'm not leaving." Dazai informed her of his stay. "So, what do you want to do today?"

"You really never listen do you?" She sighed and relaxed her shoulders, still not looking at him properly. "If you really insist... Buy me some smokes." Shiemi finally looked at him with a small grin.

Dazai surveyed her face— something he hadn't seen in hours which felt like days. He noticed a small scratch under her right eye. It was something that irked him about her appearance.

"Yeah, okay..." He agreed, still staring at the scratch with wonder.

Her eyes squinted at his staring, "Why are you staring? Look somewhere else." Dazai noted that the girl was easily irritated at that moment.

"How'd you get that scratch?"

"My nails." She took the initiative to walk away, the boy following after.

His eyes gazed at her hands intently, "You don't have nails." He pointed out, being a smart ass.

If she was looking at him he would've seen the glare plastered across her face. Lucky for him.

"Do you like me?" Her question came as a surprise, it was out of the blue. He froze for a second but brushed it off.

"What makes you think that?" He didn't answer the question which irritated her to some extent. "Just keep walking, you know the way there."

"Dazai Osamu, you really know how to make a girl like you, don't you?"

"Is it working for you?" He smiled.

"Nope," She popped the p, her arms resting behind her back.

Just when he thought he could understand her he was then cornered— leaving him void of any answer. Shiemi would say one thing but then deflect it as if it was nothing. There were missing pieces in it all.
