Nova woke up to the blaring sound of her alarm, and groaned before rolling out of bed onto her feet. As she stumbled into her bathroom, the cold tile floor made her shiver. The girl quickly changed into her green uniform cargo pants and tucked in a black undershirt. The first thing she thought of when she had fully woken up was Bradley, and their date last night. She would be seeing him again today, and tomorrow, and a lot of other days.
Nova skips the face makeup, only applying a little mascara and sunscreen because of how hot it is outside. Normally she would tie her hair in a low pony, but she puts it in two Dutch braids cause she didn't feel like washing it last night, and she really needed to. For some reason, Nova feels really good about herself today. It's currently almost six, and training starts at seven, so she hurries out of the house to get to the base early enough to enjoy some free coffee.
Maverick was overly excited to get to work today, knowing that they were starting to train with the actual course. It was gonna be interesting for sure. He slips on his Navy jacket and hops on his motorcycle, zooming down the empty road. Maverick passes by Nova's house and sees her leaving the driveway. The two of them wave to each other, both anxiously anticipating the day ahead of them.
The man and his daughter arrive to work at the same time, and walk through the long hallways to the break room together.
"How was your little date last night?" He asks Nova.
"Good, how was yours?" She fires the question back at him.
Mav didn't tell Nova about how he helped Penny with her boat, but she figured he would somehow find an excuse to spend more time with her.
"It wasn't a date. She just needed some sailing help." He informs her.
"Sure, sure." Nova rolls her eyes.
"Oh come on, we just want some details." Nova and Maverick hear Pheonix's voice from somewhere in the long hallway, followed by Bradley's.
"Like what? I told you basically everything."
"What'd you guys talk about?" Bob asks Rooster.
"Stuff." He shrugs.
"What kind of stuff?" Phoenix asks.
"Life stuff." He vaguely answered, not sure how to explain his connection to the Mitchell family.
"Did you kiss her?" Pheonix asks.
Maverick raises an eyebrow and gives Nova a look as they listen to Bradley's conversation from around the corner. She shakes her head at her father and gently shoves his shoulder.
"No, it was our first date. You guys need t-oh hey!" Rooster stops talking when they turn the corner and nearly run into Nova and Mav.
"Morning, kids-"
"Good morning, aviatiors!" Nova cheerfully interrupts her dad.
"Morning!" The three pilots say in unison.
"So Rooster...tell me about this date you went on yesterday!" Nova teases him.
The five of them are now walking in a group with Maverick slightly in front, trying to ignore his daughter.
The group walks into the kitchen and break room area, and disperses to get breakfast. Nova goes straight to the coffee machine, where she is greeted by Admiral Bates.
"Mitchell, im assuming you got your homework done on time." He reminds her of the math problem he had given her to solve.
"I always do. Speed should be 660 knots, or higher if they can pull that off." She informs the admiral, who nearly spits out his coffee.
