The problem with games was that they never lasted. They always demanded an end.
They were meant to collapse. sooner or later.
No matter how carefully the rules were crafted, no matter how long the players pretended, every game eventually reached its breaking point.
And when it did, there was always a winner.
And a loser.
Today, it seemed she was the latter.
A loser in a game she herself had decided to start, a game now ending with her defeat.
The cool surface pressing against her back made her realize she had been cornered.Cornered by the one person she didn't want to face right now.
The air between them grew heavy, almost suffocating, thick with unspoken words and tension that had been building for far too long. His presence caged her in, overwhelming her senses. His eyes searched her face slowly, deliberately like he was reading every thought she had been trying so desperately to hide.
"How does it feel,to lose in your own game?" he asked quietly, voice laced with amusement,
"Must be embarrassing, right?"
The mockery in his tone ignited something sharp inside her.Infuriating.Humiliating.Her jaw tightened, fingers curling at her sides as she refused to give him the reaction he wanted yet her racing heartbeat betrayed her completely.
"What?" he continued, leaning closer, his voice dropping to a whisper.
"No clever reply today?"
She turned her face away, refusing to meet his gaze. A grave mistake she decided to commit even after knowing it's consequences.
Because one thing Jeon Jungkook hates is her not giving him attention.
His fingers caught her chin instantly, firm and unyielding, forcing her to look back at him.
"Your eyes," he murmured, voice low and commanding,"should be on me when I'm in front of you."
"I have to go."She tried to push past him, but he didn't move. Not even slightly.
Instead, he stepped closer.
"Quitting already? But we were just getting to the interesting part."
Her breathing turned uneven as his thumb traced slow circles over her wrist, right where her pulse throbbed wildly beneath his touch. Each gentle caress only reminded her of the frantic rhythm of her own heartbeat. A reaction she could neither control nor hide under his overwhelming presence.
"It was nothing."The words barely left her lips.
A dangerous silence followed.
Then she felt it his breath, warm and heavy, brushing against her chin as he leaned closer. The proximity made it harder for her to breathe, her chest rising and falling in shallow, unsteady motions, as if even the air between them had grown too thick to bear.
"Nothing? Whom are you trying to fool? Me or yourself?"
The caress on her wrist happened again and y/n, she was close to lose her sanity.
"Honestly, you don't even have to try. You're already one, a big one." His face lowered slightly, eyes locked onto hers.
"Especially, when you play these stupid games with me."
Another attempt of her, creating distance between them failed when the man in front of her decided to close whatever space is left between their bodies by holding her waist, yanking her into his arms.
