~ BRIELLE~
Breathe in. Breathe out. Inhale. Exhale.
Ang dami pa namang bisita from the business world. Nakakahiya.
Idagdag pa na isang oras mahigit ang gugugulin para sa seremonya then another two to three hours sa reception. Now I wonder, meron bang shortcut?
"Are you ready?" Jessie - the wedding planner - asked once more, which I answered in a simple nod.
My family may not be perfect, they may have played favourites and put pressure on me growing up, but they still supported me and didn't question my choices in life, no matter how stupid and worrisome it must be.
That's why for now, just for once, I want to honor their wishes and traditions, so together with me are the four good-luck objects a bride should include in her wedding outfit or carry on her wedding day.
Something Old. Bria's first rhinestone hairpin. It's a rare kind that symbolizes growth and care.
Something New. The shoes from Aileen. It symbolizes our friendship and the steps we've taken.
Something Borrowed. Mom's dangling earrings symbolize beauty, elegance, and balance.
Something Blue. Tita Ophelia's Sapphire necklace. A symbol of trust, devotion, and contentment.
All of them will always be part of my life, and as I continue to move forward, I know that they'll still be by my side.
On this day, in the presence of our loved ones, family and friends, I will take a step in this union called marriage.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today, in the house of God to witness the union of Brielle Avy Ibanez and Alexander Montreal in this holy matrimony...."
Wala siyang dalang paper or phone for reference. Memorize?
"I, Alexander Montreal, love you Brielle Ibanez with all my heart and soul. You're my childhood friend, my headache, my source of stress."
Sinasabi ko na nga ba walang magandang sasabihin itong leong 'to. Pinagtatawanan na kami ng mga tao rito.
"But luv, ever since the day we met, you brought joy to this soul of mine. You push me to my limits in both good and bad. You supported me in your own ways, believe in what I can do and trust me when needed to. We might have fallen apart and disagreed at some point, but I know that when it's needed, you'll have my back as I'll have yours. Brielle, I trust you with all my life. No matter what happens from here on out, I promise to be your strength and power to move forward in life."
True as it would be. I can feel his sincerity. Alexander only made four promises with me, and this is the fifth one. He said before that promises are made to be broken, but if he does make one, he meant to keep them.
~
"Why didn't you promise Bria you'll be her prince?"
"Because I know I can't keep it."
"How so?"
He shrugged, "I just felt like it won't happen."
"So what promise can you keep?"
He faced the little girl with a smile, " I promise to see your face in every crossroads of my life, Brielle."
~
Another promise. Another reason for my heart to hope for something more.
