THE REASON
chapter nineteen ; dry run gone wrong
[ season five – episode twelve ]
IT HAD BEEN two days since the group had arrived at Alexandria. The entirety of the second day they spent exploring the community — and none of them could lie that the place was huge.
Everyone was nice, and there were still a bunch of people they had to introduce themselves to. Kloe looked into a window that had been boarded up on the other side for some reason, examining her appearance.
The woman who had done Rick's hair, Jessie Anderson, had cut her hair the day before to her shoulders. It definitely made her hair thicker, but it took some weight off of her head and was a lot easier to handle.
She quietly sighed, gripping onto all of her hair and wrapping a hair tie around it. The few strands that were too short to be tied fell down the side of her face. She turned away from the window, rolling up the sleeves of her black henley shirt.
She stood by the side of Tara, who occasionally looked behind her — still amazed at how amazing this town truly was. Kloe agreed. In front were Glenn and Noah, both being completely silent.
Two men and a woman emerged from steps that came from below, meaning there was a basement from the outside under one of the houses. Kloe's eyes were glued onto the three people, recognizing two of them from the other day.
The man they weren't familiar with however, pointed at them all one by one as he named them. "Glenn, Tara, Noah, Kloe?" he wondered, waiting for a correction. Although, he was right. He smiled at the four. "Nice to meet you. I'm Aiden. You met Nicholas and my girlfriend, Madolyn, pulling gate duty."
"Hey," Nicholas greeted, giving them a small, forced smile while Madolyn did the same, briefly waving as she stood close to Aiden. You wouldn't even have to be a dumbass to sense that she didn't trust them fully yet, but none of them could blame her — none of them fully trusted everyone yet anyway.
"Deanna's son, right?" Kloe questioned, setting her hands on her hips.
"That's right," Aiden confirmed, nodding. His dark brown eyes then shifted between the married couple of the four. "I hear you both got experience making supply runs."
"I saw your pantry. You guys seem to do pretty well," Glenn pointed out, remembering what he saw the day before when everyone had gone exploring. Kloe bit down on her bottom lip and nodded as she stared down at the ground, keeping her head up.
"Yeah, well, had some training before this," Aiden stated. "ROTC." Kloe's brows raised into her forehead. "Was nearing lieutenant when this shit blew."
A small smile plastered onto Noah's face as he looked across at Aiden. "My dad did ROTC."
