In war there are many people who will die or be injured. To counter these possibilities, you need an expert in the field of medicine and healing, but what if the medic was the one who was injured. Without the person who keeps everyone alive injuries become much more severe. What was once a cut that could be healed easily becomes a wound that could kill you from blood loss. That is why medics are the most important people on the battlefield. Without them death would be statistically more frequent.
That is why Tsunade needed to wake up. She was the most skilled medic in the nations and if they were about to go to war because of the Kage summit then she was needed. Yes, there were many more capable medics in the nations, but Tsunade was easily the most valuable. She may not participate on the battlefield of the upcoming war, but she will be the most important person alive.
Sakura was currently in the tent that Lady Tsunade was recovering in. It had been a week and one month since Pain attacked. The village was coming along well, and Naruto was proving to be a very qualified Hokage. Currently Tsunade was the only person in the village who hadn't recovered from the assault.
Sakura was doing maintenance on the tent and doing her hospital duties all at once. Since Tsunade was out Sakura was now the second in command of the hospital while Shizune ran it. They were now back to regular patients from missions and accidents instead of the injured from the assault.
Sakura was looking over a chart when she heard a weak voice say, "Sakura... is that you?"
Sakura turned around and saw Tsunade trying to sit up. "Sensei! Don't try to sit up." Sakura said as she pushed Tsunade back down. "You used a lot of chakra on that jutsu you used Sensei. You almost died."
"Did it help save people?" Tsunade asks.
"Yes, yes it did. With your jutsu the Leaf village was able to give Naruto enough time to arrive." Sakura responded.
"Can you tell me what happened?" Tsunade asks.
"Yes, I can, but first let me report to the Hokage." Sakura grabs a small metal tablet and starts writing on it. After a few seconds, the words disappear, and new words appear. "He said that he will be here shortly. Anyway, to recap. Pain destroyed 80% of the village and killed 60% of all shinobi and civilians present in the village." Tsunade winced.
"That's not good. We could be demoted from one of the five great nations." Tsunade said.
"You didn't let me finish. Naruto arrived right after Pain destroyed the village and they fought. Naruto defeated Pain, but he didn't kill him right away. I'm not sure what happened from there, but Pain changed his ways. He used a jutsu that revived every person that was killed in the assault. I was one of those people." Sakura said.
"So, the brat finally showed he was Jiraiya's student. Minato was a lot better at the negotiating part than Naruto, but it seems he figured it out." Tsunade said.
"Well, that's no way to speak about your Hokage." Naruto says as he enters the tent.
"So, they finally made you Hokage brat. What happened to Sensei?" Tsunade said.
"Nagato revived everyone he killed, and their injuries healed, but the one's that lost limbs weren't as lucky. The wound closed but the limb was still gone. The old man lost his arm in his fight with Nagato." Naruto said.
"...What about lost heads?" Tsunade asked.
"My hypothesis is that if the body needed the lost appendage to survive then it was given a new one. That's why if you were decapitated your head returned, but if you lost an arm then you were just healed." Naruto says.
