Over the next two months the war seemed to slow down. The two opposing sides had many small clashes, but nothing as large as the previous battles for villages. Throughout the two months troops had been moving on both sides of the conflict. Both were taking things slow so the other side didn't get a clue about their next moves.
The Hidden Frost was still under Allied Shinobi control, and the Hidden Waterfall, and The Hidden Rain were still under Akatsuki control. Both sides had taken heavy losses, but the Akatsuki had yet to lose anyone who was actually alive.
There supply on Zetzu was thinning though. Their reserves that were produced before the war started were running out, and the production of the creatures had been doubled. As a result of this regrouping stage the Rain and the Waterfall had gone completely quiet.
Scouts on the outside of the villages had not seen movement for almost the entirety of the last two months. The only thing spotted was the reanimated Akatsuki on the walls of the Rain. Otherwise, nothing from inside the village was seen. It was almost as quiet as when Pain secretly gained control from Hanzo the Salamander.
Naruto was in his office doing paperwork. Hiruzen was smoking his pipe while reading a book on the couch. Naruto was overlooking the progress on the borders. Scouts had been searching for the best way to infiltrate the Hidden Waterfall.
These scouts had encountered many small teams of Zetzu, but otherwise they hadn't been hindered in their efforts. Not much was to note on the Waterfall. The entrance still hasn't been discovered, and the forces inside the village were unknown. For now all they could do was weaken the forces on the outside of the village.
Naruto's Compad started making the noise of someone writing on it. Naruto picked it up and looked over it. It was a message from the Raikage. The village was under attack just like they expected.
"The Akatsuki made their next move." Naruto says.
"Did they attack the Cloud like you thought?" Hiruzen asks.
"Yes, it seems the Cloud village is being attacked on four fronts. Each front is led by a reanimated Kage." Naruto says.
"What Kage?" Hiruzen asks.
"The Second Tsuchikage, The First Mizukage, The Second Raikage, and the First Kazekage." Naruto says.
Hiruzen nodded. He thought back to each of those Kage. He knew a few of them before they died. "From what I know the Second Tsuchikage is the most dangerous from that list." Hiruzen says.
Naruto stands. "I agree. Which is why I am going to go kill him again." He places his Hokage hat on his desk and walks to his hung-up cloak. He puts the cloak on in a smooth motion and turns towards Hiruzen.
"Who will you bring?" Hiruzen says.
"I will leave a few reinforced shadow clones to transport Shisui, Yugito, Genma and a force of 200 capable Jonin. Have them get the force together and prepare to leave as soon as possible. They will be backup for Kumo's forces, but I am leaving right now." Naruto says as he disappears in a flash of yellow.
--------------------Break-------------------
five minutes later Naruto appeared in Lightning country. He landed at the base of the mountain where the Raikage was holding off one of the attacking forces. He was fighting the Second Raikage. Naruto appeared next to the Raikage's communications shinobi.
The shinobi jumped out of his shoes and attempted to attack Naruto. He quickly spun with a Kunai in hand and tried to stab Naruto in the face. Naruto calmly caught the arm and stopped the kunai from killing him.
