Konan was still in the hospital a day later. She was due to be released in an hour or so, but for now she was stuck in her mind. She was thinking about her future. If she stays in the Leaf, she could start a new life. The Rain village was gone, even if the Allied Shinobi Forces eliminate the Akatsuki in the village they didn't have enough Shinobi to stay a hidden village, and the refugees would get a better life in the Leaf. It seemed that staying was the best option... but it wasn't that simple. The Hidden Rain was Konan's home, and she just lost it. It's where she met Jiraiya, it's where Yahiko, Nagato, and her made the Akatsuki, but the Akatsuki's legacy was ruined by Hanzo the Salamander, and the Fake Madara Uchiha. She didn't know what to do. The option seemed so easy, but her heart still wanted to be in the Rain with Yahiko's legacy.
Konan's thinking was interrupted by a knock on the door. "Come in." Konan says softly.
A silver haired man with a face mask walked into the room. He was looking at Konan intently. "Hello Konan, I am Kakashi Hatake."
"I know who you are Copycat." Konan says calmly as she looks out the window.
Kakashi looks at her strangely for a second. "I am going to be escorting you around the current village. I will also show you what the village will look like when completed." Kakashi says in a casual tone.
"Am I cleared from the hospital?" Konan asks.
"I got you cleared before I came here. So, if you can get dressed then we can leave." Kakashi says, "If that's okay with you." He adds.
"That sounds acceptable." Konan responds. Kakashi leaves the room and Konan gets changed. She puts on some baggy pants and a black t-shirt. She ties her hair into her normal bun and leaves the room. Kakashi was leaning against the wall reading a book. It wasn't his normal book though it wasn't even made by Jiraiya.
Kakashi looked up when the door opened and stared at Konan for a few seconds. Konan raised her eyebrow at him and Kakashi regained focus. "Sorry." Kakashi muttered.
"Let's get going." Kakashi says quickly. They left the hospital and walked to the streets of Konoha. The village was mostly rebuilt, but with the new additions and adjustments, they still had about three weeks until construction was complete, and after the reconstruction was complete, they still needed to upgrade the other 20% of the village that wasn't destroyed, so that added about another three weeks. Either way the village was looking much better than it was a few months ago.
"It looks much nicer since the last time I was here." Konan says casually.
Kakashi sweat drops. "Well last time it was 80% crater, but Naruto has done good with the rebuilding. He even maneuvered all the ninja so we could finish a few months faster."
Konan looked at Kakashi with interest. "How did he do that?" she asks softly.
Kakashi looks down at her. "He assigned his foxes to the village's defense. Daisuke, his personal fox, is in charge of all of them. Then he made the Anbu and most Jonin take all mission work so we can keep up, but they won't be there long. With the war coming we will stop doing high level missions. He then made most of the normal ninja rebuild."
"He seems to be a very competent Hokage." Konan says.
"He could be the best we ever have. Only time will tell." Kakashi says with pride.
"What is your relationship with Naruto?" Konan asks with interest.
"I was the first one to train him in Lightning release. We became like brothers with that time spent together." Kakashi says fondly." I remember when he first joined the Anbu, and I was his captain. He was such a serious child. It was like dealing with Itachi all over again, but it was different. Naruto was hiding himself while Itachi is just a naturally reserved person."
