The casualties were counted, and the result of the battle was 753 dead and 254 significantly injured. Many other shinobi were injured in the battle, but they're injuries were not severe enough to be a priority. Overall, the company took a hit, but the battle wasn't as bad as it would have been thanks to the Hokage.
When the Frost was liberated Naruto, Gaara, and Darui led some of their forces further into the village to find any survivors. What they found was thousands of Hidden Frost occupants in sleep like trances.
"I felt their chakra signatures, but they feel odd. This trance must be why." Naruto states as he studies the face of Sora Shimoda the last alive user of Frost Release. Naruto recognized him from the mission he took years ago. He was much older now, and he had a long scar across his cheek.
"What do we do with them?" Darui asks.
"We can focus on waking them up when the counterattack is finished. For now, let's move them to safety." Gaara says.
"I will report this to the other Kage." Naruto says. He pulls out a small metal tablet and starts writing on it. The message was sent to five other tablets in each of the Kage offices. Hiruzen and the stand in Kazekage would receive the message in Naruto and Gaara's place.
"I am leaving Naruto. It was good to see you in person again." Gaara says.
"It was good to see you as well Gaara." Naruto says. "But next time let's not meet on a battlefield."
Gaara, Naruto, and Darui walk to the gates of the village. Naruto hugs Gaara, and they part ways. Gaara was leaving with all the injured, and some of the others. Kitsuchi's battalion would be replacing them.
--------------------Break-------------------
A few hours later Kitsuchi arrived. His battalion was full of around 1,500 shinobi, all highly capable. Most notably was Itachi and killer B.
Naruto walked up to Itachi and they did a handshake. It started with a fist bump, then they slapped their palms against each other, then they slapped the back of their hands against each other. Their hands then slid against each other, and they locked fingers for a second.
"It's good to see you brother." Naruto says.
"It's good to see you as well." Itachi responds.
"What is the plan, Lord Hokage?" Kitsuchi asks.
"We set up a base camp in the village. When the opposing army is near, we will now. The villagers were found incapacitated, so we moved them to a safer location. For now, I want your troops to set up camp and prepare for battle. The enemy is due to arrive any day, and when they do, I expect everyone to be ready." Naruto commands.
"How do you know they will attack?" Kitsuchi asks.
Naruto looks him in the eyes. "This is the perfect opportunity for them. They will try to make us weaker with this attack, but when the reanimation's leading the army arrive, I will take them off the board." Naruto says seriously.
--------------------Break-------------------
The attack came a few hours later. Kitsuchi's men had just settled down when they were notified of the approaching army.
Naruto, Itachi, Killer B, Kitsuchi, and Darui all stood on the gates overlooking the woods. The traps Naruto made were tripped, and Naruto sensed a large army of Zetzu on the way. It was about the same size as the army that defended the village not long ago, and it was led by a few unique chakra signatures.
