Konan walks through the streets of the Rain village. The entrance she took was the one closest to the living area. The roads were full of puddles, but the streets were empty. There wasn't a sound made that wasn't caused by Konan.

The city like village was quiet. None of the real battles have started yet. Konan stepped in a puddle and water splashed onto her shoes. She wasn't fazed though she lived here most of her life after all. She looked around and saw nothing. There were no signs of life in the village, but that doesn't mean everyone is dead.

Konan walked further into the village. She checked the houses every once in a while, but she didn't find anything. There was debris and destroyed buildings from the invasion, but there were no Shinobi or villagers. Not even their dead bodies. Konan was close to the center of the residential area when she smelt something. It smelt odd, like nothing Konan had ever experienced. It made her cringe with how bad it smelt.

Konan turned a corner. The corner opened up into a large courtyard. When Konan saw what was in the courtyard she gasped. Her eyes widened in disbelief. She knew there was a possibility of this happening, but she still held out hope that they were alive.

In the middle of the courtyard was a hill. It wasn't a normal hill though the hill was made of dead bodies. Hundreds of bodies stacked on top of each other. They were mostly civilians with a few shinobi thrown in the mix. Konan turned her head away from the pile. She couldn't look at it any longer.

Konan made her paper wings, and she took to the sky. What she saw was dozens of other piles. The entire population of the Rain village was murdered and put in piles throughout the village. Madara and Tobi didn't even have the decency to bury them or burn them.

Konan kept on flying through the village. The wind rushed against her face, but she refused to show any emotion. If she did, she was scared she would break. Then Konan saw something. The village had cells for prisoners. What Konan saw guarding the building the cells were in was a Rain Jonin.

Konan flew straight at him and covered him in paper. The Jonin was knocked out in a few seconds. Konan looked closer and saw that he was Ren Sasaki. He was the Jonin Sensei of the three Chunin who Konan had taken a liking to. He was still alive.

Konan entered the building and found dozens of shinobi. They were from all the villages. There were Rain Shinobi, Leaf Shinobi, Cloud Shinobi, Mist Shinobi, Sand Shinobi, and Stone Shinobi. They were prisoners of war, but instead of prisoners they were being brainwashed into joining the other side.

There had been counts of Allied Shinobi being mind controlled throughout the war. The cells of each village were full of them. Until Orochimaru was killed there was nothing they could do about them. Konan knocked out each shinobi one by one. She then made paper clones and carried them out of the village.

She sent a few paper clones to check the rest of the village, but she found nothing. Out of a village full of eighty thousand residents about 3,000 initial residents escaped, and 23 Rain Jonin were found in Konan's rescue. 50 others were captured throughout the year the war waged.

She rescued 43 Leaf Jonin, 22 Cloud Jonin, 13 Sand Jonin, 36 Mist Jonin, and 27 Stone Jonin. In total she rescued 164 Jonin from the Allied shinobi forces. She carried each of them back to the hidden Leaf with her paper.

Konan may have lost almost all of her people, but she managed to save these shinobi. That was the only thing keeping her moving. The thought that if she didn't succeed then not only would her entire village have died, but these 164 shinobi would die with a legacy of being mind controlled into fighting for the enemy.
