The morning came sooner than I had wished. After last night's not so welcomed surprise, I had wandered to the library and had fallen asleep not long after. It was hardly dawn, the sun just starting to peak out over the valley. Lord Elrond had called a meeting to discuss the fate of the One Ring that Frodo carried. The little hobbit had hoped that this ring could stay here in Riverdell and they could go back to the Shire. What he does not realize is that it cannot be destroyed by the blade of men. It must be cast into the fires of Mount Doom where it was forged. Then, and only then, will Middle Earth be rid of the darkness that is quickly taking over.

The meeting was supposed to be starting soon, but, as usual, I was running a tad late. Whenever there was a meeting or a gathering I was to attend to, I found myself being the last one to arrive. I don't intentionally do it, I just lose track of time. Once I had arrived back to my room, I found a beautiful light blue dress laid out on my bed for me.

One of the maids must have chosen it for me...

I hurriedly pulled the dress on, made sure my hair wasn't a complete disaster, and ran out of my bedroom to where the meeting was being held. I could hear loud chatter as I neared. Slowing down to a walk, I casually walked in and smiled politely at Lord Elrond who simply shook his head in amusement and returned my smile. Gandalf sat to his left, with little Frodo right beside him. Next were the three elves of Greenwood. Legolas was sitting while the other two spoke with my brother. Legolas cast a quick glance in my direction and, for a mere second I held his gaze before snapping my eyes in a different direction. My jaw clenched in irritation but I could not let my temper get the best of me. Not now. Then came three men, one of which was wearing the symbol of Gondor. My people. After the three men were three dwarves, one of whom I knew well.

"Gimli!" I grinned, hurrying over to the dwarf. A broad grin spread across his face as he stood up, opening his arms out wide. I stoop down and hug him.

"Aha, Ari my dear girl! It is so good to see you again!"

"It's good to see you too Gimli! Last I saw you, I was trying to get you to ride one of the horses along with your father," I smirked down at him once I stood upright once again. Gimli scoffs but a light blush creeps onto his bearded face.

"Arellia I thought you promised never to bring that up, especially not in public!"

"Now now, Master Dwarf, there are plenty more embarrassing stories to be told of you," I winked playfully. "But I shall not humiliate you any further."

"Well thank the gods for that," he huffed, sighing a breath of relief. I giggled and patted his shoulder before going to my seat. Aragorn soon joined me, smiling at me before turning his attention to Lord Elrond who was now standing up in the center to address the council.

"Strangers from distant lands, friends of old," he began, our attention focused on him. "You have been summoned here to answer the threat of Mordor. Middle Earth stands on the brink of destruction; none can escape it. You will unite, or you will fall. Each race is bound to this fate." Murmurs float around as several from the council discuss over the issue that has been spoken of. Lord Elrond looks around then speaks once more, this time shifting the attention to our hobbit. "Frodo, bring forth the ring." Little Frodo nervously walks forward and slowly places the ring on a stone plinth then returns to his seat next to Gandalf.

"Sauron's ring..." Legolas breathed in disbelief. "The ring of power!"

"So it is true..." the one named Boromir muttered aloud. He looks around before rising from his seat, slowly walking towards the plinth. "This ring is a gift... a gift to the foes of Mordor! Why not use this Ring?"
