Xena exclaimed, "WHAT?" She couldn't believe what she had just heard. She was ready to hear anyone's name at that point in time, but not this name. Her Majesty genuinely thought that she had heard completely wrong and asked Xena's father again. When he confirmed that she was right and said that The Queen Mother had ordered him to kill Her Majesty, she was bewildered, and Xena was as well. All of them stood there as if they were statues for a few minutes. Her Majesty realized what she had heard and stood up, grabbing Xena's father by the collar. She said, "Do I look like an idiot who believes every nonsense you utter just because I'm begging you to tell me the truth!? Now tell me the truth before I do something worse than this to you!! I don't care if you are Xena's father!!!" Xena, at first, didn't do anything to release her father from Her Majesty, but after what she had just heard, she grabbed Her Majesty and said, "Your Majesty! Please, I'm begging you to stop being like this! The person who made my father do this crime wants exactly this! They want you to be like this! But this is not who you are. You are much more clever and calmer than this. Please come to your senses."
After hearing Her Majesty, her eyes grew bigger and red. She turned around and yelled, "HOW CAN I? HOW CAN I BE SANE AFTER I HEARD WHAT YOUR FATHER JUST SAID? He just accused my mother of trying to kill me. He was blaming the person who helped me get over when I lost my real mother and became my mother. She didn't even have kids for so long just because she wanted to take care of me and my brother, and your father is blaming that kind of person. Do you think this makes sense? For any sane person, it does look like your father is trying to get away from being blamed alone. Do you think that his answers are justified? Huh? Answer me, goddamn it!!!"
After hearing this, Xena was angry. But she knew that she was not in a position to be furious with Her Majesty. She grabbed Her Majesty into a tight hug and said, "Her Majesty! No, Romana Paisley! Listen to me carefully. I know what you are feeling right now. However, this is not the time to be like this. We have to be extremely vigilant. We have to suspect everyone and we have to find the real culprit. I know that this is painful to hear, but it is the bitter truth. And yes, I know this sounds insane, but I understand how you are feeling right now because I'm going through the same thing. But right now, we have to be extremely cautious. Remember? You promised me that you would trust me, right? Now, I am promising you
I promise you that I will protect you. I promise you that your life is safe with me. I promise you that we will be safe. I promise you that we will get through this. After hearing this, Romana regained herself and shook her head in agreement. Romana immediately ordered her guards to summon the Queen Mother, and Prince broke his silence and asked why she had to do something so deplorable. Xena's father replied, "It's because she was a power-thirsty woman who entered the palace with a plan of being the Queen of Votara herself."
