From the Journals of Perenelle Flamel on her study of Hematite Crystals (the only known copy is currently in the hands of Albus Dumbledore):

...Due to their healing and transmutative properties, one could say that all crystals are alchemy stones. ... alchemy stones promote transformation and growth of one's inner state, if done correctly, can transform one's magic.

...When iron is exposed to oxygen, either through the atmosphere or contact with water, it will oxidize, giving birth to Hematite. Transforming the nature of one of the hardest metals on the earth, Hematite is endowed through the very process of its creation with the powers of metamorphosis . It carries the strength of iron and the ethereal essence of oxygen.

... Since the essence of the stone is red, instead of silver-black, Hematite stimulates the power of unseen energy (red), while extending its influence into revealed manifestation (black). Hematite can be called a 'stone for the mind'. It can be used for mental attunement, memory enhancement, and help give clarity to the mind.

...This stone encourages one to 'reach for the sun', but at the same time, it also provides for a calming atmosphere. It helps us to realize that the only limitations which exist are those our minds impose upon us. Hematite can help us to find a balance between our magic and soul. Many alchemists use this stone to ground one's magic to the energy of the universe thus helping to find tranquility and emotional clarity.

...It has been said to attract 'kind' love from others. When one wears the hematite crystal with certain magical enhancements, it sends an aura of peace, self-control, and inner happiness. This aura will help attract others to want to accept the wearer and help them assimilate into a new community.

... The reflective attribute enables the stone to cast back negative impressions that have external origins while, at the same time, providing inner strength. Used as a protective piece against Dark Magic, if one is to stumble upon the threat it gives the user of the stone inner strength in its core to fight and defend itself. Wizards using the stone in their dueling have cited being able to fight for long periods of time.

...This is why the crystal is poignantly coined as the Warrior's Sun.

Grimmauld Place, January 1996- Five Months Before

Remus POV:

"Moony that can't be possible," Sirius said, black hair raffled, his face hair not yet trimmed, making him look more worn out than usual. Sirius was adamant to be as relaxed as possible for the holiday before he had to look prim and proper again (this Professor business is just too much work!).

They were in Remus's room, Sirius was sitting on Remus's lumpy brown single sofa chair (one of the few belongings he owned), while Remus sat at the edge of his half-done bed. The boys were upstairs, bidding them good night after dinner. They would be returning to Hogwarts in two days and Remus had to tell Sirius what he knew.

Dumbledore must have known Remus would relay what he discovered to Sirius, he never made Remus take a vow to keep it from his old friend. For the past four months, Remus has been on the search for clues on the other Tom Riddle's life. Beginning with the Orphanage. Remus has been looking for any surviving employees of Wool's Orphanage, specifically from the years 1926-1946. The orphanage had been out of commission after the war ended, citing some mysterious reason it was forcefully closed. The building, five stories, had been converted into an asylum the muggles used for their mentally sick.
