Jealous

"Sweet corn for my wife and for my daughter" 

I swallowed the lump on my throat when Raven sweetly uttered those words as he gave the sweet corn to Jillian and I. Why does it sound good to me?

I've never pictured building a family in my mind. That's why I did not seriously accept commitments way back in Canada.

But now, it feels different, all my perceptions seem to change since I met him. Raven is a good guy. Caring, gentleman, and hardworking are understatements to describe his traits. Plus, his breathtaking looks, he's smoking hot even though just wearing his infamous muscle tee and jersey shorts — he can even look salivating with his farmer's fit — dirty long sleeves, sweat pants, muddy boots, and the weird shirt covered to his face, they're using it as a mask! Nakakalaglag panty pa rin talaga. Bonus na ang pagiging masarap niya.

He's also good at diving. Pearl player.

I know that I already admitted that I like him, kung sure na noon, sure na sure na ngayon.

Honestly, I'm scared. I afraid of commitment. Natatakot ako ngayon na malaman niya dahil baka umiwas siya. What if it's just a one-sided? I don't know what will happen to me. I am not used to rejection.  And thinking that there's a high possibility of it made me sick.

Kung dati ay gustong-gusto ko ng makabalik sa Manila, ngayon ay natatakot na ako. I know that after we left this place, our relationship will end. No more fuck buddies. I still want to go home, of course, I have left my life there. But I'm starting to think that this is my home. He is my home.

"Mommy, hindi na hot yung sweet corn po." I blinked my eyes rapidly when Jillian tapped my legs.

"Oh, right!" I smiled at her and was about to get the corn but another hand rested on my thigh.

I looked at my right side and met Raven's worried orbs. "Are you alright? Tulala ka kanina pa? May masakit ba sayo?" Puno ng pag-aalalang tanong niya.

I smiled at him and nodded my head. He was still caressing my thigh. I don't feel anything but gentleness. I don't feel lust while he's doing that.

"Sigurado ka?" Natawa ako sa paniniguro niya. Magkasalubong na ang makakapal niyang kilay. I reached for it and caressed it using my thumbs. Bumaba ang kamay ko sa panga niya at walang pagdadalawang isip na binigyan siya ng isang magaan na halik.

"Akala ko mais lang ang sweet, kayo rin pala!" I yelped when Corazon giddily teased us.

I forgot na magkakasama nga pala kami ngayon! What the hell! Baka isipin nila ay PDA ako!

The kids were giggling, dahil ata sa bilis ay wala ng nakapigil sa mga bata na makita ang paghalik ko kay Raven. Well, smacked lang naman yun kaya hindi naman na masama.

"Share mo lang?" I spitted making her stopped teasing.

"Ang sama mo talaga!" She sulked.

Nagtawanan kaming lahat habang sama-samang nagpapahinga dito sa kubo. Meryenda time kasi at pahinga muna ang mga nagtatrabaho. As usual ay ako ang nagbabantay sa mga bata dito dahil ang mga magulang nila ay nagtatanim.

They harvest the corn yesterday kaya ito na ang kinakain namin ngayon. It's boiled sweet corn. Sorry Kamote but this is better that you.

I know what corn is, syempre, palaging nagluluto si mama nito sa Canada! Favorite nila ito ni papa kaya naging favorite ko na rin. Especially the bualaw.
