"The house that you live in don't make it a home, but feeling lonely don't mean you're alone. People in life, they'll come and they'll leave. But if I had a choice, I know where I'll be"

~A.CARA

THE BELL RANG THAT Friday afternoon, students hurried out of their seats, eager to get home or probably the Mall or anywhere that made them happy. While, Mr Ray, the humanities teacher, sat on the chair meant for teachers, it's funny how this school system is. Students leave the class immediately the bell rings leaving the teacher to follow behind. My head was pounding and I was extremely tired.

I picked my bag from the edge of my table, slung it over my shoulder, and walked to the door, bidding Mr Ray goodbye and he returned it. The hallway was almost empty when I got there, I couldn't blame the students, they probably had good plans unlike me. My plan was to go home, bury myself in my fluffy blanket and binge watch Korea movies on my laptop.

I walked to my locker, put in the combination before taking my literature textbook and the new novel we were reading. I slide my bag to the side and put in the novel and textbook into it. Sighing, I scanned the hallway for the few students lingering around. Down the hall, six lockers away from mine, I saw a small group of five, chatting and laughing. I didn't need to be told that they were on the football team, my eyes searched for the blonde with blue eyes.

Bennet head snapped to my direction like he could read my mind. He smiled slightly at me but didn't make his way to me just like I told him not to.

My first day in this school was horrible. I was late to my first class because I couldn't find the courage to ask a student where English class was, and when I did find it by myself, I was fifteen minutes late. Mr Scott, the English teacher spared me because I was a new student. You had to know the amount of eyes staring me down that day.

I tried finding Benn that same Monday but couldn't find him, so I went out of my comfort zone and approached a nice looking girl who flipped after asking where Bennet Todd was. I realized that a plain Jane like me couldn't be seen with a god like Bennet because that's what the students see him as.

Benn found me at lunch break where I was hesitating to go into the cafeteria. He told me about how he had searched every class to find me but he didn't know my schedule. He also complained about how I had declined his call the morning before I came to school. It took a while but I noticed that I would not stay the wallflower if I'm seen with Benn.

I told him and he was hurt but he complied after several reasons why I wanted to remain unnoticed and it has been working for me.

I had walked down the three stairs of the hallway when I raised my head. My breath hitched, my heat stopped for a moment and I stopped dead in my tracks.

Am I dead?

I asked myself as I stared in wonder. Leaning on a car a few feet away from me was a god. Slicked back black shoulder length hair, sharp cheekbones and perfect nose with full almost-red lips. He had a piercing in his left brow and a gold stud in his right ear. From where I was standing, I couldn't tell if his eyes were brown or black.

He was standing next to Mollie, a girl I recognize as the captain of the cheerleader and Jonah, her boyfriend. His mouth ran as he expressed with his hands, I couldn't tell what they were talking about but one thing I could tell was that my heart was beating against my chest thunderously.
