"Quite when I'm coming home and I'm on my own. And I could lie say I like it like that, like it like that. Yeah, I could lie say I like it like that, like it like that. But nothing's better sometimes once we've both said our goodbyes"
~B. Eilish.
I SCANNED THE BEACH looking at the bar was that brightened with neon lights. You guessed right, I came. I lied to mum, I told her I made a new friend and that she wanted to hang out. I feel very guilty especially when her eyes had lit up happily for me.
Bennett wasn't much of a hassle because he had to go to the other town to bring his cousin over, her parents were getting divorced and she wants a break from it all. I also told Benn I would be working late in The comic bookstore.
I work in the bookshop voluntarily, I didn't want to stay cooped up at home. Besides, I was a regular customer of the sixty five Mrs Kosarin so I volunteered to help her and she gladly accepted. Glad I did now.
I walked to the bar, seemly aware of the chilly night. I buried my hands in my hoodie, my sneakers burying themselves in the beach sand whenever I took a step. I didn't even know what I was doing here but I couldn't resist seeing that handsome face again.
Bennett would be so disappointed.
My steps came to a stop as I reached the bar, I could see why girls like me shouldn't be here. I scrunched up my nose as a saw a group of guys openly doing drugs and some gabbling as a pop song played in the background. I let out a light laugh when I spotted a six group of guys with the same afro hairstyles. The afro gang.
"Hey"
I almost let out a scream as I jumped and turned to the asshole that dared whisper in my hear. I wasn't even surprised when I saw Tynan, he derived joy in scaring me. He wasn't smiling, his face was expressionless as always. I'm starting to think his blank face was from birth. He changed his clothes from this morning, he's wearing a black leather blazer over a gray t-shirt and a long black jeans.
"What the fuck are you wearing?" He asked and I almost died from his voice. How can a voice be so sultry? His accent is really taking me to cloud nine.
"What?" I asked. "What's wrong with my clothes?"
"Do you fucking see yourself right now? You look ridiculous" he said. I raised a brow and studied what I wore. I was wearing a black hoodie over black skinny jeans and black sneakers. My hair was pulled up in a ponytail with a black scrunchie, falling down to the middle of my back.
"I don't see anything wrong with what I'm wearing" I argued. He shook his head and muttered something under his breath. He led the way, motioning for me to follow him.
"You're wearing black." He started. "There's no other color, you do know this isn't an assassination, right?"
I paused which caused him to stop. My eyes widened and I almost trip over my words. "Am I involving myself in some dangerous thing? Why am I here Ty?"
"Don't call me Ty, we aren't friends" he growled and that stung. "It would be less dangerous if you drive fast enough tonight"
"And if I don't drive fast?"
"We get caught and we—" he said, poking his thumb and running it across his neck. My eyes widened, he couldn't be joking because his face was dead serious.
"I want out" I said. Tynan raised a pierced brow and shook his head.
"It's a little bit late, Cordelia"
I internally swooned at the way he said my name until I registered what he said. "What did you do?" I asked. He must have understood the question because he buried his hands in his front pockets and moved a bit closer to me.
