STARBUCKS||WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 15TH

"How yuh suh quiet over deh suh?" Avi asks taking a sip of her coffee.

We were currently sitting in Starbucks because we decided we needed a change of scenery as we went over a few notes for our last exam this coming Friday.

"Nothing just inna mi head" I tell her and she eyes me suspiciously, "Yuh sure?"

"I'm sure Avi Nasir" I answer and she hisses playfully at me using her full name, it always pisses her off when anybody uses her full name.

"Just checking lady, no need for the government" she says taking another sip of her iced coffee.

I wanted to order coffee too but I think I read somewhere that too much caffeine was bad for babies and even though I wasn't sure if I was getting the abortion I didn't want to do anything to harm the baby.

Besides I couldn't stomach the smell anyway.

It was probably because I was pregnant but I was already having a hard time just sitting here trying my best to resist the urge to gag every few minutes.

"Mi tired fi study though mi pretty sure we fully prepared" I say closing my book and she does the same.

"Yuh know how long me a wait pan yuh fi say that, mi read the same paragraph bout 5 times now" she says laughing and I join her.

Suddenly a woman passes with a croissant and a coffee in her hand and I gag once more, "You good?" Avi asks when my hand flies to my mouth.

Nodding, I quickly rushed to the bathroom where I spilled the contents of my stomach into the toilet.

The morning sickness was starting to set in and I knew for sure I was running out of time if I chose not to go through with having the baby.

Yuh still nuh tell Azai yet

That was the next thing on my list, I still wasn't sure if I should tell him or not but I knew within myself that I wouldn't be able to look him in the face if I decided to get the abortion and not tell him.

Flushing the toilet, I walked over to the sink to wash my hands and rinse my mouth, turning the faucet off I dried my hands before placing a Wrigley's gum into my mouth.

Going back to my seat, Avi was busy texting away on her phone, "Sekani seh him almost reach" she tells me and I looked at her confused.

"Wasn't Azai supposed to come get us?" I asked her and she hisses, throwing her phone down on the table.

"Him claim seh Daddy just pull him into an emergency meeting" she says picking up her coffee and giving it a swirl.

Weh she mean by him claim seh?
