Caught in the Feud

Chapter 25

Alexia's POV

It's been about a week of training with Luka. We have gotten to know each other pretty well but I haven't had the guts to ask about Tara. Whoever she was I knew it was a sensitive subject.

"Alright let's finish up, you've been training hard. No need to burn out." He said I finished my reps on the bar. I was a hell of a lot better than I was but I wanted to be even better.

"Are you sure? I feel pretty good so I could keep going." I replied before taking a drink of water.

"Yeah because you will crash later and the harder you go now the worse the crash. Come on we can go see what everyone else is up too." He said taking my hand. I will never get use to the warmth he brings from a single touch.

"Alright but that's only cause I want to do some more research. I know we are close to a break through." I muttered.

"You are running yourself ragged trying to find all the answers but I think you missed the point of having a support system." He said leading me out of the room and down the hall.

"I just don't want any of you getting hurt because of my family-"

"Wolves have been hunted since before you were even a thought. This isn't news. It's just another war for survival." He explained trying to ease my conscience. To a point he was right but perhaps if I never met them, maybe they would've been okay.

"Well if I can't research what can i do?" I asked trying to change the subject.

"We could do something together? If you like outdoors I could take you someplace special." He offered with a smile. 

"I like the sound of that. Where we going?" I asked getting a little giddy. I love the woods.

"It's a surprise but you will have to ride on my back." He said gauging my reaction.

"Interesting but I'm in." I smiled right back at him. Having him around has been really nice.

"Let's go." He tugged me forwards and we head out the house not stopping for a moment. We make it to the tree line before he stopped. "Alright close your eyes so I can undress and shift." He instructed lightly. Doing what he said I closed my eyes before hearing the rustling of clothes, his shoes were gone, and then a single nudge to my arms. Looking down there was a beautiful silver wolf with different degrees of grey almost making it look like storm clouds rolling in his fur.

"You are so pretty." I mumbled petting his fur. He nodded a thank you at me before he motioned towards his back. I climb on gently before gripping the fur near his neck. He took off in a flash and it was scary at first. Then it became the most amazing feeling. Trees flying by, all the beautiful scenery, and just being with everything. I don't know how it could get better.

{Kourtney's POV}

I finished the grimore of my grandma's again and still nothing. This is getting truly annoying.

"You look tired, here's a sandwich and some water to keep up the strength." Gaige said entering the room.

"I'm just tired of not having all the answers. Thank you Gaige." I said reaching for the plate. As I reached I felt it, then the scent hit me. MATE. It screamed in my brain and his eyes said he felt it to.

"I-"

"I tried to tell you the other day but yeah." He said kind of awkwardly.

"Wow talk about timing." I said with a smile to try and ease the tension. He smiled back at me.

"I did-" I kissed him and it was the best decision I ever made. It took him a second to recover from the shock but he kissed me back. After a second we pulled away, both with huge smiles on our faces. For once I allowed the world to fade away and we settled in on the couch. Enjoying the new found bond in us.

{Alexia's POV}

We made the it to a quiet part of the forest. He brought me to an area of a creek and wild foliage everywhere. I just couldn't believe the sight. I climbed off his back gently, so I wouldn't hurt him before approaching the creek, allowing him some privacy.

"I found this place when I left, for the missions they sent me on. It was the only place that the grief didn't seem to heavy. I could breathe easy here." He said from behind me.

"What happened to her?" I blurted. It should've been more sensitive but I was so curious. He sighed before wrapping his arms around me from behind.

"We met at a bar. We were having the best time and we decided to avoid the traditional ways of mates. We wanted to go on dates before marking and we wanted to do other things with each other before committing. By the third date it was hard to be apart. We went to a popular bar well for wolves at least. Then we heard the explosion. Next thing I know so many wolves were dead and she protected me from the blast. She dove in front of me so nothing got me. Sadly the hunters were behind this specific bombing. So they used silver and wolvesbane in it. No one could heal properly. I couldn't save her." His words chocked at the end. I felt his demoner shift.

"I'm so sorry, that's awful." I said knowing my words probably wouldn't help.

"I went crazy from it. I made sure I didn't feel anymore. I did anything I could, drinking, smoking, and any drug to fill the void. I looked for girls that looked just like her so I could relieve myself for a time. Once my behavior became dangerous towards our little family here they sent me away, they hoped I would find something other than grief. It took several missions to do that. Then one night I came back to see a new girl in our kitchen. A beautiful girl, a human. She had the best scent and it put me at ease for once." He turned me towards him and I saw his smile. I didn't know any of that but towards the end my heart warmed.

"I have a scent?" Was all I could muster to say out of all of that information. He laughed at my words and looked at me with the most affectionate look.

"Yes. It's an amazing smell like vanilla and the rain." He answered caressing my cheek. That's when I did something, I kissed him. Fireworks blew up as we kissed. It was absolutely amazing. He pulled me closer and kissed me with passion. He pulled away for a second and I couldn't hold back the whine of disappointment. "Can I mark you? Please I can't loose you." He begged but his eyes were darker then before. In the haze of the moment, I allowed it.

"Yes." He moved the hair away from my neck causing me to shiver.

"This will hurt but it's worth it." He said before kissing my neck. That's when I felt a canine scrape my skin. Then they all went in. I screamed in pain but then it went away. It felt amazing and something strengthened in me.

{Later that night}

We made it back to the house, enjoying the company. It took us a minute because marking does take a lot out of someone but we could now use the mind link thing which is kinda weird.

"What are they gonna think?" I wondered as we approached the door.

"It doesn't matter, what matters is us." He reassured me. We opened the door and there was the gang watching something. It was nice to see them all with their mates, wait! Kourtney and Gaige, they were snuggling, oh my goodness!!!! That's when they all turned towards us.

"Alexia, what did you do?" Micah asked sternly. I am assuming they know.

"First Kourtney now you! For fucks sake ever heard of waiting!" Sebastian exclaimed but he had a slight smirk to his face.

"Wait Kourtney you-"

"And you-"

"Alright we all got mates and we are now all connected to them in some way. Let's move on." Micah settled it. Wow I never expected this. I smiled at Kourtney.

"You want to stay down here?" Luka asked gently.

"Actually I am gonna go take a shower. I will be down soon." I responded before kissing his cheek. I head towards my room but when I made it up there Kourtney was suddenly at the top of the stairs. Before I could say anything she pulled me to my room and closed the door.

"I know how we can stop your uncle."
