Elena's brow twitched as she took in the villagers' stone cold expressions once the Macken boys stepped foot back in their village.

In every step they took, the villagers seemed to be huffing and spitting on the ground like animals.

'Wish I could treat them like the mongryels that they are.....' Elena thought darkly.

Who treats kids like that?!

She may be biased but Luka is a cinnamon roll. And Jim had been a pleasant darling all the way to the village.

She claps her hands tighter around the boys, seeing that they were stiff and wary. Waiting for someone to throw or yell at them.

"It's ok. I'm here. They can't hurt you....". I whispered to them.

Luka visibly deflated and Jim lost his tense shoulders.

We finally reached a large building in the center of town looking to be the village head or mayor of the village.

Luka ran forward and knocked loudly before taking my hand again.

"Hello. You must be new to our lovely home. I'd recognize a beautiful flower like you anywhere......" The blonde that stepped out seemed to be in his early 20's and dressed much more dapper than the village people.

And he gave me the creeps with his toxic green eyes.

"Mister Carver, sir. This is Elena she got into a bit of a snag and needs a place to stay." Jim politely told Mister Carver.

"I can pay." Elena chimed in. She had a couple pouches of money hidden in her clothes. She had a paranoid mind. Considering she could be kidnapped or stranded at any time, given the storyline.

"Since your a sight for sore eyes. I'll sell you the tulip cottage at the end of the village. Old Mrs. Hill passed two summers  had no family to speak of. So it's been deserted. Two bedrooms with a good plot of land."

"Deal."

Elena got the deed.

And she walked away from the creep as fast as she could.
