"Psst. Sirius. Come here for a second." Cally whisper yelled at the boy who was already halfway through the hallway. Sirius turned to look if someone was actually calling his name or if he was being delusional. He felt relieved to see the first option was correct.
"Everything's fine?" he asked as Cally pulled him into her room. "How do i look?" Cally asked nervously. She turned to the mirror just as soon as she finished her sentence. Anxiously fixed small things like her hair or the way the silky dress sat on her curves.
Sirius eyed the girl down before putting on a confused smile "You look gorgeous. Why are you so nervous, stop fidgeting." . The boy scolded her as he grabbed the continuously moving hands of the girl.
Cally sighed deeply to calm herself down. She didn't know why she was so nervous, she just wanted to look perfect. "Yeah, you're right. Sorry. I just feel like I'm gonna explode. There's too many small details i feel like i have to fix in order to look perfect." she explained to her friend.
"You already look perfect. Now, if you keep trying fix it, you'll ruin it." he softly smiled at the girl. Cally shook her head, returning his smile. As they were having their little moment, Euphemia Potter called from downstairs.
"Oh for Merlin's sake, you two are finally here. I've been calling for quiet some time." she told the teens as she put her earrings on. "Now, stand here in a straight line you three. You know the rules— don't spill any 'juice' on my furniture. No fires, no visible blood and no heartbreaks by the end of the night okay?" Mia pointed her finger at the three.
"Yes, Mum. We're not twelve, no need to worry!" James whined at the woman's warnings. Just as his mother opened her mouth to reply, Fleamont Potter called from the door "Come on Effie! We're going to be late for our one night of peace!".
As the woman left the house repeating everything to the children, all of them let out a sigh when she finally left. "Your father calls your mother Effie?" Cally questioned. She was not fully on speaking terms with James yet, but this much wouldn't hurt.
"Yeah, i think he's the only one who does. It's sort of their thing." James replied simply. 'That's the most romantic gesture ever' Cally thought, not speaking her thoughts.
James only then realized how beautiful the girl looked. He thought the dress must be made for her, because he was sure it would only look this pretty on her. He tried to get his eyes off of her, finding it very hard to do. Felt uneasy at the image of her talking to Remus tonight. He shook his head to shoo away the thoughts, then called Sirius to help him in the kitchen.
"She looks pretty doesn't she?" Sirius asked. He didn't expect the genuine "Yes. Very." coming from his friend. "Did you invite Lily?" Sirius asked once again. "Yes of course. Marlene, Mary, Dorcas and Alice as well?" James told the boy, sounding like a question almost.
He did invite the girls to their Christmas party, but only because Cally was there. He didn't want her to feel lonely or excluded, so he went overboard and called almost all her friends too. "I called them for Annie." he then spoke.
Sirius was shocked by how honest his friend was being this evening. "You okay mate? Did someone give you veritaserum or something?" the raven haired boy joked. James was confused by his friend's reaction. What was so odd about his answers? He just told things in his mind with honesty.
Just as James opened his mouth to answer Sirius' question, the door bell rang. They both sprinted to the door, met with a Cally who has already opened the door and Remus standing at the doorway. There was silence for what felt like hours until Sirius basically jumped on the boy who was waiting to be invited in "Moony! You're here! Merry Christmas mate!".
