Dinner was enjoyable. Everyone laughed and shared some memories while eating the delicious food. After everything was cleaned up, mr. and mrs. Potter decided to sit by the fireplace while the three teenagers went to James' room upstairs.
"Mia is a goddess honestly. Her food makes me want to tear up." Sirius said, very happy with his finished meal. Cally giggled at the boy's grateful attitude. "Even if the way you word it is funny, i agree." she seconded. "Yeah, she learned everything from me. That's why it's so good." James told his friends, sending them a grin.
"Oh really? Your future wife must be very lucky then." Cally laughed at the statement. "I don't know about you two, but i ate a little too much, not that i regret it. I'm just sleepy from all the food. So I'll excuse myself. Try not to jump on each others laps after i leave." Sirius said with a smirk before leaving. Cally felt her cheeks heat up at the boy's joke. "Oh sod off!" she yelled from his behind.
"That stupid child really." she shook her head with disapproval. James chuckled at the girl's attitude. He slid next to her on the rug, both leaning against his bed. "So, do you regret coming here yet." he joked. Cally chuckled before hugging her knees and resting her head on them, facing the Potter boy. "It won't be easy to make me grow tired of you. By the end of it, you'll probably regret inviting me over." she told the boy.
"Is that a challenge?" he raised a playful brow. Cally nudged the boy before laughing, "No it's not, just enjoy it while you can." . They sat in silence for a while after that. James was dying to ask her about Remus, but he was too scared. He was scared that she accepted his offer, more afraid of not knowing what to say.
Cally hugged the boys arm and rested her head against his shoulder before finally breaking the silence. "Mum left home." . James didn't know what to say. He felt angry, because no matter what he did, life was always finding other ways to make it harder for the girl. "How do you feel." he could finally get out. "Not as sad as I thought i would be honestly. I guess it was necessary after some point." she answered calmly.
The boy didn't add anything. He rested his head on top of hers and played with her hair with his empty hand. "I've been wanting to talk to you for a long time, but i never got the chance since you avoided me so eagerly." Cally stated, visible hurt in her voice. "I'm here now, ready to listen. So tell me everything." James told the girl, sounding, and feeling, guilty.
"I kissed Remus, but he probably already told you." she said. "Yeah..." was all he could say. "Aren't you gonna say anything?" she furrowed her brows, not getting the reaction she was expecting.
"What do you want me to say?" James asked her, trying his hardest to keep his cool, not wanting to scare the girl away. Cally lifted her head from the boy's shoulder to look into his eyes, wanting to see everything they said. "I don't know. I wanted to talk to you about it from the very beginning, so i guess i got some stupid expectations." she said, not breaking the eye contact.
"Ah..." was the only thing he said. Still not getting the slightest bit of the reaction she wanted, she felt herself grow frustrated by every second. "Well he asked me out at the King's Cross." she challenged. There it was, she finally caught some sort of reaction in his gaze. She wasn't sure what it was, anger maybe, or worry? But she was happy to finally get any sort of emotion out of the boy.
"What was your answer?" James asked. It was now nearly impossible to have an unimpressed look. He didn't want to hear the answer. Cursing at every second he asked. Much to his relief, she replied "I didn't say anything yet, he didn't let me anyway. But I should probably answer after the Christmas break. What do you think I should say?" she asked again, trying to understand his full intentions.
