"Morning lads, ladies." James nodded at people having breakfast before sitting down. He was basically radiating happiness and joy.

"To what do we owe the kindness Potter?" Marlene asked. "Nothing, it's just a beautiful day don't you think?" James replied. "It's literally raining. You hate rainy days." Sirius interrupted.

"Just get off my back will you? Where's Annie?" he finally asked. "She doesn't have any classes in the morning. So she's sleeping in today." Lily explained.

During breakfast, owls flew into the great hall. A letter was dropped right on James. It said from mum.

When he opened it, there were two papers. One was thicker than the other. So he started reading the longer one first.

Dear Cal,

First of all, I did kiss nymphadora's adorable chubby cheeks for you. Second of all WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVE FEELINGS FOR JAMES POTTER!? Last time I checked, you were emotionally unavailable. Many things changed in the holiday I see. And I can't get completely mad at you because I asked Lily out. Sorry about not telling you before, but I also had to sort it out before telling anyone anything. I hope Potter doesn't upset you.

Callum

James finished reading with an open mouth. Before anyone could say anything, he flew the table, making everyone stare at where he was.

"What's with him?" Marlene cocked an eyebrow. "No idea, one thing he was reading his mails, next things he's gone." Peter answered.

Alice grabbed the unopened paper on the table then read it. "I think he accidentally read the letter meant for Cally. This letter says it's from Callum and it was lost in mail so his parents sent it when it arrived."

"But what did the letter say?" Marlene asked again curiously. "I'll go ask Callum." Lily left the table.

Meanwhile, James Potter was running to the Gryffindor common room. "Have you guys seen Annie?" he asked out of breath.

"I think she just left like 5 minutes ago" a fourth year replied.

James mind was rushing. Where could she have been? She didn't have breakfast so she could be at the great hall. But then they would surely see each other on the way. Kitchens? No, she didn't eat after a certain time in the morning.

The greenhouse. James knew she would be at the greenhouse. It was her favorite place. And he knew she would like to calm down after yesterday's events.

Cally was taking care of some herbs when all of a sudden, the greenhouse's door bursted open. James was standing right in front of her.

"James! You scared me. What's going on?" she questioned. But he didn't answer. He was staring at her with a mesmerized look.

The girl noticed the paper in the boy's hand as he kept standing there without a word. "What's that?"

James only snapped out of it with the question. He looked at the paper then looked back at the girl. He was met with her beautiful eyes.

"Annie, I fancy you." he confessed. Cally was shocked at the words she heard.

"Fancy me? I don't think I quite understand it?" she questioned. "Fancy you, like you, in love with you. Whatever you want to call it."

"James- Is this a prank? Why so suddenly I-" she couldn't finish her sentence "I love you Annie. Don't you understand it? I've been keeping everything to myself for Merlin knows how long. But I've finally read Callum's letter and I think it's time we clear everything up." he blurted out once again.

The girl took the letter from the boys hand and started reading it. She covered her mouth and her eyes went open in shock. "Where did you find this?"

"Does it matter? Is it true? Do you have feelings for me?" James asked as he got closer. Now all the world was in her hands. Word left her mouth that he would kiss her.

"Yes, I do." she looked him in the eyes and that's when he finally made a move. He grabbed her chin and kissed her.

Her hands grabbed his shoulders in response. After a moment of being dumbfounded, she finally kissed him back. Her hand was now squeezing the paper tightly and also squeezing his shoulders.

When they were out of breath, James whispered as his eyes were closed "I've waited a lifetime for this moment." then kissed her once again but this time much more gentle.

"You like me back?" Cally asked when they stopped again. "I literally love you Annie. My world revolves around yours." James confessed.

Cally felt her stomach twist with the boy's words. She tried to find the right words but there were no words that could describe the feelings of the girl at the moment.

James panicked at the silence of the girl. "I'm sorry- Did I say too much? Did I scare you?" he blubbered. Cally put her hand on his mouth to stop him from talking.

"You didn't do anything wrong. I'm just trying to gather my words. Surely I haven't confessed my long lasting crush to the person I love the most in the whole world before."

A laugh escaped James' mouth at those words. "You have no idea how much impact your words have on me love. You don't have to say anything right now. Maybe sleep on it. I don't want to rush anything with you." he reassured the girl before pressing his lips on hers one last time.

Cally felt cold when the arms that's been wrapped around her waist for the last 5 minutes let her go. She almost fell to the ground due to her weak knees.

"But you promise you won't change your mind tomorrow yeah?" she asked. She had to make sure none of this was a dream. Hell if it was, then it was the best dream of her life.

"That's not possible. You have bewitched me, body and soul." he smiled. Cally's eyes widened at the reference "You didn't read it!!" she exclaimed.

"Oh but I did!" James responded with a laugh as he made his way out of the greenhouse. Cally followed his steps to catch up to him.

"Stop playing with me! How did you know that line?" she asked with great volume. "Why are you so surprised? I can read muggle books." "But it's my favorite one!" "And that's exactly why I've read it."

"James come on. Seriously how did you know?" James grabbed the young witch's hand as they kept walking "Because I saw it in your room. It's always on your nightstand. I figured it was important to you so I've read it." "When?" "Two years ago." "Why!?"

James stopped in his tracks suddenly and turned to face Cally "Annie. I don't think you understand how much affection and care I have for you. Every single detail about you is important to me." then he kissed her hand and started walking again. Not letting her hand go for a moment.

"Now let's get to classes before we're late. You have all the time in the world to question me all you want." he said never once dropping his smile.

I was actually planning on writing about the aftermath on this chapter but realized it would be too long. So I'm leaving that for the next one. And sorry if this chapter is a little sloppy I've wrote it in the span of 2 months or something. For those of y'all who read my message pano, nothing happened between my crush and I. He just keeps giving me mixed signals so I decided to ignore him. Anyways sorry about the venting love y'all. Comments are appreciated🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
