"Ugh, why am I even reading this?" A bored Vaporeon complains, closing the uninteresting novel she was reading and leaving her desk. "It's so boring. I don't get why Sunny likes fiction so much."
Rainie sighs and lays herself down on her soft blue bed, staring at the plain white ceiling. Just another boring day in The Eevee House. Well, more like a boring day in the entirety of Veesville; there doesn't seem to be anything to do around here!
She lifts herself up, absently glancing around her room. Next to her desk with the boring book was a bookcase filled with history and science textbooks as well as informational magazines-including some strategy guides on battling. Though, of course, she never found a good chance to apply them in this peaceful little town, but whatever.
Moving her eyes onto her dresser, she sees a black jewelry box resting on top. It was dusty, giving the sense that it hasn't been opened in a while.
She slips off the bed to look at it more closely, gently opening it to reveal a cerulean sapphire necklace tucked inside. A gift from her father...
"Dad..."Her expression turns somber and a tear drips down her cheek.
"Ugh, what are you doing moping around?!" She suddenly scolds herself. "Y'know what, why don't I just go on a walk with Pinky? Better than sitting around and doing nothing."
Closing the box, the newly invigorated Vaporeon thrusts open her door and knocks on Pinky's. "Open up, bestie~!"
"Geez Rainie, why are you knocking so loud?!" A Sylveon opens up the door, looking a bit disturbed.
"What? Don't you always knock really loud on my door?"
"That's only to make absolutely sure you can hear me. Anyhoo, what's up, bestie?"
"Nothing, nothing at all. I was just wondering if you wanna go on a walk together."
"Ooh, a walk? Where to, may I ask~?"
Rainie ponders for a moment. They could just take a walk in the park, but...she wanted to go somewhere more interesting. "How about the Wild Woods?"
"Girl, are you crazy?!" Pinky looks at her with shock, maybe even taking a little offense at her recommendation. "The wilderness is not fit for a civilized mon like me! P-plus, I actually was going to hang out with Thunder today, soo..."
Rainie pouts. "Oh come on, Pinky! It'll be fun, and anyways, you hangout with my big brother all the time now! Aren't you ever going to spend some time with your bestie?"
"Girl, stop trying to make me feel guilty."
Pinky turns away, shuddering after adding, "We could die out there, exploring the forest!"
"Stop exaggerating! You don't have to worry about any wild Pokemon close to town because of those Hunters. They're really good at their job, y'know." Her sarcasm was mixed with clear resentment, which Pinky notices.
"Ok ok, fine, bestie. We'll take a walk in the Wild Woods. Since you're being oh so persistent."
"Ha, good." Rainie smiles to herself in triumph. "Let's go!"
Since the forest was right next to their house, they decided to use one of the side doors. Before they could exit, however, Sunny notices them leaving towards the woodlands. "W-where are you going, big sis?"
"Just taking a walk in the woods, baby bro." Rainie reassures him: "No need to worry, we're all grown up. We can handle some adventure."
"I sure hope so." Pinky mutters.
...
The Wild Woods was indeed more peaceful than what Pinky was worrying about. Trudging along the tall grass, the duo crossed through fields of mossy trees and wild shrubbery-the bushes overgrown with wildberries and wildflowers. As Rainie had stated, no wild Pokemon appeared to be present at all-despite them going further in than originally planned.
