Everything was cheery and colorful for Asher. Painted above him was a bright blue sky and wavy, white clouds that looked as if they were scribbled in the air. A smiling sun wearing star-pupiled eyes was watching him as he ran along the glowing green grass.
"Woah..." His mouth gaped open.
Endless fun could be found all across the floor. He saw bouncing sports balls, dancing toys and action figures, and even a bunch of animated board games...if he ever felt like playing any of those.
In the center of his world of fun, he saw a familiar Eevee wearing a red heart clip and standing still, gazing out as if admiring all the playthings as well.
The shiny Eevee runs up to her. "Hey, Emily!"
Emily turns around and smiles at him. "Hi Asher! Look around, there's so much fun stuff to play with here!"
"Yeah!" He agrees, wagging his tail. "Let's go have some fun right now!"
Excited, he grabs her paw, though she then suddenly becomes very still, speaking with her mouth closed.
"Asher."
"Y-yeah?" Why isn't her mouth moving?
"Asher!"
"Ok, I'm listening, Emily. What do you want?"
"ASHER!"
He jolts awake to realize that Emily had been yelling at him to wake up the entire time.
"Finally!" She groans. "Why do you sleep during history class all the time?"
Asher, drowsy and unfocused, flipped up his messy hair and looked around the room to see his familiar classroom. The corny motivational posters were tacked up on the wall, boring bookcases sat in the corners, and a sea of brown wooden desks laid all around the place. Strangely, none of the desks he saw were occupied.
He blinks. "O-oh, so is it lunchtime now? Sweet!"
He grins, adjusting his bright orange wristbands and then jumping out of his chair and grabbing his backpack. He was ready to leave! Yet before he could, a nagging voice called out to him.
"Asher! Where do you think you're going, young mon?" A Lopunny with glasses appears behind him, giving him a disappointed look.
"Oh, h-hey, Mrs. Hoppits." He slowly turns around, expecting to get yelled at again. "Uh, what's up?"
"My name is Mrs. Hobbits! How have you not gotten it by now?!" She scolds him.
"Oops, my bad."Emily sighs, just having to add that "You really think she wouldn't have noticed you dozing off again?"
Before he could respond, the teacher asserts that:
"We're going to have a little talk before you leave, Asher."
She turns to Emily, "If you won't mind, Emily, could you please stay here also?"
"Okay!" The annoyingly compliant, heart-clipped Eevee replies.
The annoyed shiny Eevee whines, "Aw, mon..."
The teacher then takes the Eevees to her front desk, motioning for them to sit in the two chairs pulled up at its front. She opens a drawer, pulling out a certain marked paper and putting it on her desk, right next to the apple that the teacher's pet Emily had gifted her earlier this morning.
She pulls out a pencil from her can of pencils to point at the red markings. "This is the last history test you've taken, Asher. You got a D."
"Y-yeah, well, I always get bad grades on history tests, heh heh." He sweats, avoiding eye contact with her.
