The New Year's Eve was upon U.A. High, and the festive spirit filled the air. Colorful lights adorned the campus, and students were buzzing with excitement for the upcoming celebration. However, amidst the joyous atmosphere, you noticed a familiar figure, Izuku Midoriya, looking a bit withdrawn.

For a long time, you've had a huge crush on Izuku that was obvious to everyone but him. Seeing him like this made your heart shatter.

Approaching him, you could see the uncertainty in his eyes, a stark contrast to the determined gaze he usually carried. The past year had been a rollercoaster for him, filled with challenges, growth, and moments of self-doubt. As the clock ticked towards midnight, you decided to be the guiding light he needed to step into the New Year with confidence.

Izuku sat on the couch, his expression a mix of excitement and nervousness. The approaching New Year brought with it a sense of reflection, and Izuku couldn't help but feel a twinge of uncertainty about the future. His dreams of becoming a great hero felt daunting, overshadowed by the weight of expectation and self-doubt.

Sitting beside him, you could sense his unease. With a gentle smile, you placed a hand on his shoulder, offering silent reassurance.

"Hey, Izuku," you greeted, joining him on the sofa. "Why the long face? It's New Year's Eve, time to celebrate!"

He managed a small smile, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. "I know, it's just... reflecting on the year, I guess."

Sitting down beside him, you sighed. "It's been tough, huh? But you've faced every challenge head-on, and you've grown so much. You should be proud of yourself."

"I guess. But there's always this feeling that I could do better, be better."

You nudged his shoulder playfully. "Izuku, you're amazing just the way you are. Besides, New Year is all about new beginnings and a fresh start. Maybe it's time to cut yourself some slack."

He chuckled, a sound that hinted at the weight he carried. "You're right. I just... I want to be a hero everyone can rely on. There's just so much I want to achieve, but sometimes it feels like I'm not strong enough."

"And you will be," you assured him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "But being a hero doesn't mean you have to be perfect. It means you keep going, no matter how tough it gets. And hey, that's something you're really good at."

Deku still had doubt in his eyes, leading him to avoid eye contact. "I don't know, Y/N... it's hard sometimes, you know? There's so much pressure..."

You took his hands in yours, looking at him with determination. "Izuku, you're incredible. You have one of the most powerful quirks, and you've shown time and again that you can rise to any challenge. It's time you start believing in yourself as much as I believe in you."

He offered a small, hesitant smile along with a light blush, the weight on his shoulders easing slightly. "Thanks, Y/N. I needed to hear that."

The common room was alive with laughter and music, students preparing for the midnight celebration. Izuku, however, seemed hesitant.

"Come on, Izuku! Let's join the fun," you urged, tugging him towards the lively atmosphere.

He nodded, following you reluctantly. The countdown began, and as the clock struck midnight, cheers erupted throughout the common room. The atmosphere was electric, filled with the promise of a new year.

Amidst the celebration, Izuku's eyes flickered with a mixture of emotions. You grabbed a couple of party poppers, handing one to him. "Ready to welcome the New Year with a bang?"

He hesitated, then smiled and took the party popper. The colorful streamers exploded into the air, and Izuku couldn't help but laugh at the sheer joy of the moment. It was a small victory, but it meant the world to see him letting loose.

"Izuku!" you laugh. "The countdown didn't start yet."

Izuku laughs with you and sheepishly laughs with you. "Sorry, I guess I got a little too nervous."

"Don't worry about it. I'm right here with you."

He returned your smile, a newfound determination shining in his eyes. "Thanks, Y/N. You really have no idea how much this means to me."

As the countdown began, your classmates erupted into cheers, and together, you joined in the chorus of voices counting down the seconds. Ten... nine... eight...

With each passing moment, the excitement grew, and as the final seconds ticked away, Izuku's eyes lit up with determination. Three... two... one...

"Happy New Year!" The words echoed through the room, and in that moment, a wave of euphoria washed over you both. The air was filled with the sound of cheers and laughter, and as fireworks exploded overhead, you couldn't help but feel a sense of optimism for the future.

Some couples that were in the room shared New Years kisses, making you squirm a bit in your spot with a light blush on your face. You look over at Izuku and see him staring back at you, your blush growing even deeper.

With a smile, you hold his hand again, squeezing it reassuringly. "You've got this, Izuku. Believe in yourself."

"Y/N, can I tell you something? I really need to get this off my chest."

You tilt your head on confusion. "What is it?"

"I-I really like you... more than a friend! C-can I kiss you please?" He looks away after asking his question.

Without warning, you grab him and smash your lips onto his. Everyone around the two of you was in shock at what you had just did.

You both pull away and you smile at him. "At least I know we have one thing in common. I like you too, Izuku."

As the festivities continued, you pulled Izuku into a dance, determined to keep his spirits up. The music thumped through the room, and for a moment, the weight of hero responsibilities seemed to lift. He stumbled at first, clearly not used to dancing, but soon enough, he was following your lead.

"See, Izuku? Sometimes, you just need to let go and enjoy the moment," you grinned, twirling him around.

He laughed, a genuine sound that echoed through the room. "I never thought I'd be dancing on New Year's."

"Life is full of surprises," you replied, pulling him into a silly dance move that had both of you laughing.

As the night progressed, you found a quiet moment to talk amidst the festivities. Sitting in a corner, away from the bustling crowd, you turned to Izuku. "So, any resolutions for the New Year?"

He thought for a moment, a contemplative look on his face. "I guess... I want to believe in myself more. Trust that I can handle whatever comes my way."

"That's a great resolution," you applauded. "And you know what? I believe in you, too. You're capable of amazing things, Izuku."

He smiled, a warmth returning to his eyes. "Thanks, Y/N. I'm lucky to have you around."

The night continued with laughter, dancing, and the promise of a brighter future. As the celebrations winded down, you walked Izuku back to his room.

"Thanks for tonight," he said, sincerity in his voice. "I needed this."

"Anytime, Izuku. Remember, the New Year is a chance for a fresh start. Believe in yourself, and there's nothing you can't achieve."

With a final smile, you left him at his door, the echoes of laughter and celebration lingering in the hallway. As you headed back to your room, you couldn't help but feel a sense of fulfillment. The New Year had started with a celebration of joy and, hopefully, a new beginning for your relationship with Izuku.
