Seated on the armchair, he was holding a glass cup, while swirling it content of a red that to a normal individual, it could have easily been seen as merlot or any type of wine out there, but to his and his brothers eyes, this wasn't the case.
'When are we going to the city?' The younger one in almost a mature tune, stepped in the conversation questioning his male siblings.
The others remained put, doing what they were already doing, knowing that it wasn't their role giving an answer.'Soon. Right Jungwon?' The eldest was certain about it, soon they were going back to their hometown or at least that's what all remembered as such, the place they first met each other. The person called with the name looked out of the window, getting lost in the beautiful almost full moon 'Very soon' he replyed, drinking the rest of the "wine" that he was still holding.
It was a busy day in Busan district, the city known for it's generous nature and at the same time criminal cases.
The air was thick with the salty aroma of the sea, and the distant cries of the seagulls could be heard echoing though the alleyways. The first day for the starting of school or collage for some and for other another day at work.
This time it was a first for Moon Jennifer, who already made her way though the roughly put together streets, but still the sad memory of her parents disappearance lingered in her mind. It was a feeling similar to that of a ghost, and followed her wherever she went.
Today it was her first day at an average criminology university.Never once in her past she ever thought she could go this far. Every credit in her opinion was to be given to the only person who believed in her...Mrs. Eunjin or how she told her called her Mrs. Joy, her english name.
She was a korean woman born in the States, and helped her though the hardships of getting treated not very well, when the story of how she ended in the orphanage was the talk of the town.
Her stomach was a knot of anxiety, as this day loomed before her.
She needed to give her best, after earning the chance to study her beloved crimes justice. She and Mrs. Joy were still incontact. After leaving the orphanage that same year and landing a new job as an intern in a pretty known investigation company, with them being the one reaching out to her, even before thinking about applying for the job; leaving that occupation as a barista in the coffeshop down the street, in the downtown area, that she's been working in for the past 3 years.
It wasn't easy to land that position either as she had no experience, but again, her heart goes out to Mrs. Joy, that was friends with the owner and was able to persuade him into getting her hired.
She viewed her as the mother figure she was longing for and that she never had.The walk to the campus took her longer than expected, while she put her face deeper on the scarf and the coat that tagged along for how cold was the environment, but she arrived on the dot.
Jennifer had a poor immune system, and was able to get sick really easily, a thing she discovered though the years as a kid and got tastes for. That's why even if it was autumn, she sticked to that kind of heavy dressing
With a deep breath, she stepped onto the campus grounds. The old, majestic buildings of the criminology school cast a shadowy, mistery presence over the students who where beginning to fill the courtyard. Other students had her same idea, so she didn't felt like a fish out of the sea.
Suddenly, admits the hustle and bustle of her first day on the grounds, Jennifer felt a presence beside her. She turned to find a young woman smiling warmly at her; she had a tall, slender frame with soft features that could make people turn around to take a second glance. The black hair laying on her shoulders and a band in her hair, with light makeup that was well chosen highlight her porcelain skin and doe eyes.
No more than a few years her senior, a conclusion she was able to take by looking at her uniform. It looked really well made, but there were a few details that to her careful eyes couldn't get pass to.
'Good morning! Welcome to B(I)CJ Busan, Institute of criminology and justice! I'm students president Soojin' Jennifer's eyes lit up. It was the first time someone close to her age and to add pretty with a high status, introduced to her and she was right. Soojin was indeed older than her.
'Hello, unnie. I'm Jennifer' the girls shook hands, then the tall brunette handed her a flyer 'this is the map of the school, you may need it to be able to find your class' she explained briefly where to go and ask.
Jennifer stared at the paper, feeling a little overwhelmed, a thing that the female in front of her noticed with a blink of an eyes. Then she looked around and as her eyes landed on a girl entering the school, she called her name out loud 'Jihan-ah!' The girl immediately smiled when their eyes locked.
She was some inches shorter than Soojin. A round face with a pointed chin and almond-shaped eyes that were of a deep dark coffee in color. Her skin was light as well and her long straight hair was slightly lighter than Soojin ones, but noticeable enough, she had a small, upturned nose and full lips that were up in a gentle smile. She looked like a cute little puppy, and at first glance, they seem of different ages.
'Jihan, this is Jennifer, Jennifer, this is Jihan.' They shook hands and they smiled at each other 'Nice to meet you Jennifer. I like your name...are you a foreigner?' she asked, her eyes sparkling with curiousity 'Nice to meet you too Jihan. It's nothing special but thanks.' She went on 'No haha I'm not a foreigner. I've actually never been outside Korea before. Out of topic but you are really pretty' Jennifer awkwardly smiled, not used to compliments and being her first time interacting with people her age on a friendly level.
After the formalities, Soojin shoved the flyers onto the hands of the young lady that just arrived 'Give out the flyer, I show Jen around the school' before the girl could answer, she took her hand and ran, while a stunned Jihan was left behind unable to say a word.
The girl smiled sympathetically. 'It can be a bit intimidating, new or scary at first', she said, maybe referring to the school in question and the fact that it was huge 'But you'll get used to it soon enough. Come, let me show you around'.
A little hesitant, but simultaneously feeling relieved, Jennifer tried relaxing a little, following Soojin's lead while they walked all over the campus, as she pointed out the various buildings and introduced her to someone other students.
For the briefest of moments, she felt normal, having people talk to her and looking at her without that moking smug on their faces.
That day passed in a blur of books and coffee, and an unshakeable bond of friendship was yet to be formed.
The lessons were really interesting, after the basic introductions, the teachers started explaining the basic of their subjects, but what caught Jennifer attention was Criminology psychology
