She made her way to work as the streets were calmer than usual. These days, she, Sunghoon, Jake, and Jay got a lot closer. Jennifer didn't know what to give them as a birthday gift, considering that she still hadn't met the other four brothers, but she knew she had to think of something soon.

'Good morning, Jennifer.'
Jihoon was the first to greet her as she stepped into their department.
'Good morning to you too, Jihoon.' The girl flashed him a smile before going to take her place on her usual seat, but just then, she noticed Minyoung, team leader. 'Good morning, Mrs. Park.' She bowed. 'Good morning, Mrs Moon,' she replied, fixing her eyes back on her work.

'Minyoung-nim, is there any problem?' The brunette noticed that the woman was sitting in her chair starting at some paperes she was holding for more than 15 minutes now, with a look of frustration.

'Yeah, Jennifer is just...' Minyoung paused, rubbing her temples. Jennifer got up and took a cup of coffee from the machine and handed it to the woman in distress. 'Thanks,' she gave her a small smile before taking a sip. 'I just can't seem to find any leads on this case. It's like the suspect has vanished into thin air.'

'Let me take a look,' Jennifer offered, reaching for the file. Minyoung hesitated and eventually handed it to her.

Jennifer settled into her chair, ready to dissect the case. As she flipped through the file, a feeling of unease began to creep in. The missing person, a young woman named Sun-Hee, had vanished without a trace from her own home. There was no clue or anything at all. What was even more strange was the period of the case. About 50 years earlier.

'The case is really old, so it's hard to find any real clue.' She sighed heavily, looking at Jennifer. Her eyes lighted up as she readed the file over and over again, until her eyes landed on a small detail that Minyoung had overlooked.

'Minyoung, look here,' the intern said, pointing to the detail. 'This could be our clue.'

Minyoung raised an eyebrow. 'What do you mean?' She saw it as a simple thing, as it wasn't anything outside the ordinary. On the other hand, the newcomer readed it another way. Then, her eyes widened as she realized the significance of that particular phrase. 'Jennifer, you're a genius!' she exclaimed.

But Minyoung's praise was short-lived. The team leader was still sceptical of the rookie abilities and questioned whether she was truly capable of handling such a difficult case.

'Thanks for your help. I'll take the lead from here. Thank you once again.' She seemed genuine as Jennifer shook her head. 'No problem'.

Time flew by as the other colleagues arrived and took their sits. When it was time for the lunch break, Jennifer was tapping the last things on her computer when a shadow fell over her desk. As she looked up, she found Jungwon standing before her. His tall, athletic frame was clad in a white shirt, and his piercing gaze met hers. His handsome features were stunning, but it wasn't impossible to notice the hint of nervousness as he cleared his throat.

'Hey Jennifer,' Jungwon began, his voice smooth as velvet, 'Hi Jungwon,' she smiled.'I was wondering if you're free in two weekends?' Jennifer's heart skipped a beat. During her days at the firm, she realized Jungwon was not only beauty but also a brilliant investigator. She had been drawn to his intelligence, his quick wit, and his enigmatic aura, for a while now, all excuses to answer to the fact that she wasn't really sure why.

Maybe it was simply the fact that they had similar scouting stories that intrigued her.

'I'm so sorry, Jungwon,' Jennifer replied, his eyes lowered with disappointment, 'but I can't. I have something I need to attend to that I can't reschedule.'

Jungwon's expression fell slightly. 'Oh, okay. Well, maybe another time.' He smiled even if he didn't feel like it.
'I would like that,' Jennifer said, her voice filled quth honesty.
As Jungwon turned to leave, Jennifer couldn't help but feel a pang of regret. She had always hoped for an opportunity to connect with him outside of work, but circumstances had conspired against her.

Back at her desk, Jennifer sighed heavily. As she resumed her work, she couldn't shake the feeling that she had missed a chance.

Just then, lost in her thoughts, she didn't realize Minyoung stopped in front of her desk until the lady spoke 'Jennifer, Mr. Hanbin wants to see you in his office'.

Jennifer was a bit nervous as she entered the room, while he was busy typing some things on his computer. When he was done, his eyes landed on the two women. ' Good afternoon, Mr. Kim, you said you wanted to see me, sir?' Her voice was shaky as she tried to maintain eye contact.
'Yes, I did.' He looked at her with a serious expression.

'Your team leader here, Park Minyoung-nim told me how you helped her with the case 9' As his words sinked in, she felt more anxious, thinking she was in trouble again. 'And I would like to personally give you my compliments for cracking a bit this case that we've been trying to solve for years now.' She blinked, slightly confused, locking eyes with their leader that was standing next to her seat.

'That's why I would like to offer you a spot in our secret team, composed by only 8 of our best investigators' he then went on to explain how this team was was known for investigating strange cases, something that was completely different from her usual work.

'Are you going to accept this difficult task?' He asked. 'But...why me?' She frowned.'I'm really grateful for having the chance to enter the company as an intern and even for moving to a department this soon, but...secret team? I don't have that much experience' Jennifer was being practical and started doubting herself as it was too good to be true.

'It's true you don't have that much of an experience. I know it may sound strange, but you are one in a billion. You are a natural, and the only way for your abilities to grow is to increase the difficulty of your tasks. You have potential, and that's all you need' with this encouraging words, Jennifer finally accepted the offer. 'Good, Minyoung-ssi will explain to you what you need to know. Ah, and drop the formalities. Here we are a family. I told you already you can call me Hanbin.' He smiled as I nodded slightly, not really used to it.
After excusing our selfs, the short woman turned to face me, and after looking around and making sure no one was there, she started explaining.

'In our team, there are members from different agencies that Mr. Kim is one of the founders. Everything that we say there remains there. No speaking of it outside work unless your superiors speak to you about it privately. It's to prevent anyone from every finding out.' She kept talking.

'We have a meeting two or three times a week, depending on what we have to discuss. Later, I'll live you the schedule that we usually define every weekend'
After that, they went back to each to their working space. 'So? What did Mr. Kim wanted?' Jihoon whispered as he silently slided next to her with his chair with wheels.

'Nothing important. I got praised.' She smiles proudly. This was going to be a new experience, and she couldn't wait to dive into it.
