'This person has been really important in my life. Always there when I needed comfort or feeling unwell,' she stated as they were walking. Her words painting a portrait of a person of great comfort and aid. Beside her, the gentleman, Sunghoon, listened with a growing unease. A stange feeling, a tightness, began to expand in his chest, and his heartbeat, was of a quicker pace than usual.
Before the young man could ponder this thing any further, they found themselves at their destination, a building of some modest form.
They rang the bell and waited. Sunghoon wanted to make sure she arrived safe to her destination, and so he escorted her to the doorsteps. 'You should leave before she opens-' but it was too late. The door swung open as a melodious voice emerged from it.
'Jennifer sweety!' A woman, who appeared to be in her 20s, but surely more advanced, opened the door with a big smile as she hugged her. 'You made it!' Her voice loud as the hug tightened, before looking over her shoulder.
'Good afternoon ma'am' he bowed slightly once they made eye contact. 'Good afternoon' she said as her eyes travelled from Jennifer to the man. 'And who is this gentleman that you brought along?' She asked narrowing her eyes with a slight smile. 'Park Sunghoon, ma'am a pleasure to meet you' he bowed once more, trying to hide his confusion. "Maybe the person she had to meet was her son?", that's the thought that crossed his mind.
'Oh, no need. You two should come in' her lips widened into a smile. 'Actually Sunghoon is quite busy', but he shook his head with a grin. 'I still have time to spare,' he announced, noticing the subtle shift in Jennifer’s composure at his words, a momentary surprise that held him curious.
Jennifer and Sunghoon were sat on a sofa across the small table in the living room and the elder woman settled in the chair in front of them, before suddenly getting up 'Doesn't anyone want some tea?' She asked as Sunghoon and Jennifer nodded in sync.
'Okay, then I'll be right back' and so with that she disappeared around the corner.
Jennifer immediately turned towards the guy sitting next to her.'What's your deal?' A frown appeared on her face, while on his a neutral expression.
'What do you mean?' He asked nonchalantly. She looked at him in disbelief as she shook her head.
'Sunghoon' she said quite annoyed, looking at him as if the problem was obvious.'I just wanted to meet the person that's so special for you, from the way you talked, he seemed like a nice guy. Ah, where is he?' He said more dry than he intended to sound like, while Jennifer's face slowly went from irritated to surprised, then she bursted out laughing. 'What's so funny?' He grumble, but she instead she didn't reply and continued laughing once more before getting up. She wad surprised by how much he cared for her safety even if a little, since she never thought he would express more emotions towards her.
'I'll be back soo-' suddenly something seized her her wrist, but before she could make sense of what was going on, she felt her body falling back in the opposite direction she was intended to go.
Her eyes fluttered open, finding him inches away from her. A strange heat rised in her chest as they stood there in silence. That's when Mrs. Joy walked in with the tray of tea and some biscuits.Jennifer immediately jumped away from him, and they sat down as if nothing happened, he looked to the side, trying to act normal, with his heart hammering in his chest like never before. It was another new feeling. And it was the same for the flustered girl next to him.
