"Maya Winters." A older nurse called out standing in front of a set of double doors. I looked back at the hospital entrance waiting to see Ryan walk through them. I sighed deeply being let down once again. I stood up and pushed the stroller towards the back. "How's mommy today?"

"She's here." We chuckled lightly as she took Maya out her stroller seat and let her stand on the scale and measured her. I peeked over at Melody who was watching her twin intensely. "Maya is at a healthy weight and height." She gave them both a sticker as we walked towards a hospital room. It was under the sea themed so I know the girls are going to love it.

The nurse placed Maya on the bed going through the normal pediatric check up. After a few minutes and questions she was finished. "Perfectly healthy. Dr. Bonnie will be in after her last patient."

"Okay thank you." She said her goodbyes to the twins before walking out. Perfectly healthy but being back at the hospital means it has to be bad news. If it was good news they could've told us over the phone.

I unbuckled Melody out of her seat letting her climb onto the bed with her sister. I dug my phone out of my pocket and proceeded to calling Ryan. It went straight to voicemail. I thought he would've been out of court by now it's 4:30. The corners of my eyes started to sting but quickly went away once Dr. Bonnie walked in.

"Good afternoon Ms. Jergens. How's everyone?" She smiled sitting on her stool coming closer to the bed. "Is dad on his way?"

"We can go ahead without him." She nodded pulling a remote out of her pocket. The room lights dimmed and she turned on a tv.

"Now this is a picture of a neck MRI that's clear. The next slide is Maya's."

I gasped putting my hand over my mouth. "Im sorry to tell you this Ms. Jergens but Maya has stage 3 Rhabdomyosarcoma or RMS. We tested the tissues several times and each test came back cancerous. Right now the tumor is the size of a golf ball, small and operable. It's very treatable and we can admit Maya into inpatient care chemotherapy for the next 4-6 months. We would like to operate tomorrow to remove the tumor since it's right by the spine and lymph nodes and we don't want it to spread.
