"I'm sorry, Y/N."
"That's just it? You're breaking up with me and move to England with her?"
"I don't know what else to say."
"Three years." You whispered, just loud enough for Christen to hear. "Okay. I wish you all the best. Go be happy." With that, you walk out of the front door of your shared apartment, leaving her standing in the living room.
———
That was the last time that Christen has heard from you. Five years ago. She has everything she could ever want. She's now back in her home city, playing for Angel City FC and she's engaged, life's great.
She has a game in her home town. She decided to visit a couple familiar places, like the small diner, her old apartment, and lastly the park. Her and Tobin were walking through the park, hand in hand.
"Alright, kids! Time to go home!" They both hear a man say.
Christen looks towards the voice, seeing a man by a car, someone she hasn't seen in a long time. She doesn't know whether she should make herself known.
"Hey, Timmy!" Timmy looks up to see Christen. His lips slightly twitched down, something Christen noticed.
"Christen." He replied, blankly.
"How are you?"
"Good. You?"
"I'm doing really well. I actually have a game here, so decided to visit a few places."
"Cool, um, I gotta go. Bye."
"Wait." She stops him. "Uh, how is Y/N?" Tobin frowns at her wife's question, wondering why she's asking about her ex.
"Um..."
"What's wrong?" Christen, as well as her wife, is confused about something she doesn't know.
"Look, Christen. I really have to get the kids home. It's getting late and—"
"I know I don't have the right to ask about her, but I just want to know how she is. She was my first serious relation—"
"Shut up! Please!" He begged.
"Hey, don't talk to my fiancé like that!" Tobin said, pushing Timmy away.
"Tobin, stop!"
"Look, my kids are tired and I need to get ho—"
"Just tell me how she is."
"She's doing fine! Healed from what you damaged. Goodbye Christen."
With that, he drove off, leaving Christen and Tobin standing, shocked at his outburst. Christen started walking back to the car, Tobin closely following behind. The car ride back to the hotel was quiet, even when they were back in their shared room, no one has said a word, Tobin giving her some space.
It was the next morning and Christen still hasn't said a word. She doesn't know why she was so affected by the conversation yesterday. She's moved on, she's engaged, she should be happy, right?
She goes on her phone, scrolling through all her social media apps when one post catches her attention.
