It's Been a Long, Long Time (Sam Kerr)

You love Marvel. One would consider you a Marvel nerd. Your girlfriend definitely does. In the three years you've been together, her Marvel knowledge is almost up to par with her football one.

You and Sam were having a relaxing day, coming down from the high of the world cup and her birthday. You've both already had dinner, now y cuddling on the couch watching, yet, another Marvel film, Avengers Endgame.

The familiar sound of the trumpet can be heard from the television, a house coming to view. Sam gets up from the couch, holding a hand out to you.

"May I have this dance?"

You couldn't help the giddy smile that forms on your face, grabbing her hand, she pulls you off the couch. She pulls you close, your head resting on her chest, hers laid on top of yours, arms wrapped around each other, swaying to the music.

Never thought that you would be
Standing here so close to me
There's so much I feel that I should say
But words can wait until some other day

You lift your head off her chest, looking up at her, her looking down at you, into your eyes with nervousness.

Kiss me once, then kiss me twice, then kiss me once again

She leans down to kiss you with so much emotion and passion. You tear up, can't even put into words how much you love her.

Pulling away from you, she gets down on one knee, holding out a small velvet box, a beautiful ring sat right in it.

"Marry me?"

Time seems to come to a stop. There were no other words she needed to say to convince you to answer the question. She shows her love to you every single day, even when she's miles away for football.

Tears slide down you face, bottom lip trembling. Unable to get the words out, you nod, kneeling down to her. You hold Sam's face with both your hands, kissing her.

"That's a yes right?" She mumbled into your lips.

"Of course it is."

Sliding the ring onto your finger, she kisses you once again.

It's been a long, long time
