It was a few weeks after the encounter with Sam and they're now both great friends.
As Colby walked, his footsteps echoed loudly against the wet pavement, the sound of the rain pattering against the ground creating a mesmerizing effect. His shirt was drenched, having lost his hoodie at school, leaving him exposed to the elements. To hide his scars, he applied contour, hoping to conceal the evidence of his past. Despite the beauty of the rain, Colby remained in silence, consumed by the painful thoughts of his broken home. The feeling of dread churned in his gut, causing him to clench his stomach in discomfort.
The anguish of his shattered home weighed heavily on Colby, tormenting him with unbearable pain. A sense of foreboding churned within him, causing his stomach to knot in discomfort. Sadly, there was little Colby could do to prevent it. His father's physical strength was far superior to his own, and as a mere teenager, he was unable to fight back. Although Colby had his own strength, it was nothing compared to his father's. Thus, he had no choice but to endure the situation.
Colby sighed, seeing his house near in the distance. He had arrived in his neighborhood, and the creepy look of a bunch of different places gave him a sign he was near. He arrived at his doorstep. He sighed before giving in and turning the knob to his door slowly as he peeked his head in to check for safety. Once he recognized the coast was clear, he made his way inside the house. Colby kicked his shoes off and placed his backpack on the ground before making his way up the stairs.
Colby felt uneasy, the eerie silence becoming so loud. He was petrified, to say the least. It didn't feel safe in his home. Colby gulped, noticing the second floor was dark. Colby made his way through the hallway, his heart thumping loudly in his chest. Everything was fine-
THUD!
Colby cried out in pain, the feeling of being slammed against the wall painful. Colby clenched his teeth. He felt firm hands on his shoulder, the smell of alcohol very strong. Colby slowly opened his eyes, the force of being slammed against the wall too harsh for his eyes to stay open.
"Who's Sam?" His father growled, digging into Colby's shoulder with the force of his nails. Colby groaned, his eyes clutching shut as there was pain zinging through his shoulder.
"W-Who?.." Colby asked breathlessly, trying to act dumb. Obviously, Colby knew exactly who his father was talking about but he couldn't tell his father about the popular blonde.
"Don't play dumb, boy! Who's the fucking blonde?!" His father shouted, his voice filled with rage. Colby felt his father's grip tighten, his own body shaking slightly. Colby whimpered quietly, his voice too scared as he felt like it would break if he spoke. "You heard me! Who is he?!"
"H-He's just a friend..." Colby said quietly, his voice frail as he winced, his father's nail still dug into his shoulder as it broke Colby's skin.
"A friend, aye? Since when did a faggot like you have a friend?" His father taunted, his voice full of disgust and hatred. Colby didn't respond, the words hitting hard to his core as he felt a wave of sadness overcome him. Colby hated how his parents weren't supportive, obviously homophobic with a passion. "Answer me!" His father screamed, his hands tugging at the collar of Colby's shirt. Colby gulped, his eyes looking into his father's widely with fear.
"S-Since a few weeks ago-"
"Don't talk back to me, boy!" Colby's father took action, throwing Colby's more petite frame to the ground. Colby groaned, falling on his arm with a harsh thud. Colby's breathing picked up, his heart rate skyrocketing as he thought of endless possibilities. His father towered over him, his glare petrifying as it was filled with disgust and rage.
"F-Father-" Colby started, a sickening crack ringing throughout the house as his father kicked his ribs. Colby coughed before crying out in agony, feeling a burning pain in his chest.
"You're no son of mine!" His father growled.
RING!
Colby's father's brows furrowed, his footsteps heading down the stairs and near the door. Colby gulped, silent sobs escaping him as he finally let himself break.
"Hello, Sir. I'm Sam, Colby's friend. He left his hoodie at school and I was wondering-"
"What do you mean to my son?" His father spat, his voice unreadable. Sam's brows furrowed, wondering where Colby was and why his father would ask such a question. Sam gulped, the feeling of unease settling in his gut.
"I'm his friend, sir. May I ask where he is?" Sam asked, his voice more stern as he felt a bad vibe from his father. Sam had a frown on his face now, noticing how little respect Colby's father had for him.
"He's not home right now."
Sam didn't understand. He had Colby's location on, which it said he was at home. Sam sighed, shaking his head. "Okay, well, here's his hoodie, sir." Colby's father nodded, taking the hoodie with his hands. "And, let me know if he arrives," Sam stated, his voice filled with disappointment.
"Alright, goodbye." Colby's father slammed the door shut, Sam instantly knowing something was wrong. Sam pulled out his phone, checking out Colby's location once again. His brows furrowed, seeing that his location was still stuck at home.
CRASH!
Sam's eyes widened, hearing a deafening crash inside the house. Sam knew something was wrong, something had to be wrong. Sam knocked on the door, only to hear a scream.
Colby.
"Colby?!" Sam called out, his voice filled with anger and worry. Sam banged on the door harshly, his fists colliding with the door with extreme force as he tried to break in. Sam stepped back, running up to the door and kicking it down with force. "Colby!!" Sam shouted, hearing shouts upstairs. Sam huffed, running up the stairs.
Sam's eyes widened once he got to the top, seeing Colby's father towering over him, his leg kicking the poor brunette. Colby's face was bloody, surprisingly not horribly bruised. "Hey!! Leave him alone!!" Sam shouted, running up to Colby's dad and tackling him. They both fell to the ground with a thud, Sam's fists colliding with the father's face.
Colby's father's eyes closed, his face bruised up from all of Sam's extreme punches. Sam panted, looking back at Colby. "Colby?.." Sam called out gently, walking over to the brunette and holding him close to his chest. Small sobs escaped Colby's chest, his breathing irregular as he shoved his face into Sam's neck.
"I'm so sorry... It'll be okay, Colby, it'll be okay..."
