"Just listen to me!" Sam shouted, his voice full of concern and irritation as he tried to convince Colby. Colby's fists were clenched, his knuckles turning white as he had his back to Sam, looking at the horizon with his teeth clenched as well. "Please... Colby," Sam pleaded softly, his voice gentle as he placed his hand carefully on Colby's shoulder. Colby's body tensed, his head whipping to the side as he flung Sam's hand off his back.
"Don't touch me, Sam. You promised me... You promised to never do it again!!" Colby shouted, his eyes filled with tears as he was facing Sam with his front. Sam's eyes were wide, full of understanding, confusion, and worry. Sam felt guilty, but for what? Sam didn't know what he did wrong.
It was his job after all.
"I-I don't understand... what did I do?" Sam asked, his hands still bloody from previous consequences. Colby's body shuddered, the wind blowing harshly, an unknown feeling blowing throughout the air. Colby looked at Sam's bloody hands and gulped before looking back up at his beautiful blue eyes.
"You murdered her."
Sam didn't have a reaction, his face blank as he looked at his bloody-filled hands. Sam was covered in blood as if it was a kid playing in a puddle of it. Sam looked carefully at the blood, the scenes of his own murder playing in his head as he smiled. Slowly Sam chuckled, receiving a petrified glance from Colby.
"What?" Sam asked, his brows furrowed as Colby's eyes watered. "This is my job, baby. It's my job to kill, my job to keep you safe." Sam said gently, remembering the bloodied screams of Colby's mutual. Well, fake mutual, Katrina. Sam was only keeping Colby safe. He didn't understand why Colby was so mad at him.
"She wasn't trying to hurt me, Samuel! She was just trying to-"
"To what? To help you clean the knives? Yeah, no. Sorry, baby, but she was trying to kill you." Sam stated, his voice unintentionally eerie as he spoke. Colby gulped, shaking his head a tears were bursting from his eyes.
"She would never kill me, Sam!" Colby shouted, an emptiness in his chest from the loss of his friend. Sam scoffed, walking closer to Colby and grabbing his waist. Colby squirmed, trying to get out of Sam's grasp. Sam sighed, his bloody hands bringing Colby closer to his chest as he tried calming him down.
"I know you don't believe me, honey, but I'm being honest. Just trust me." Colby felt odd, the feeling of dread in his stomach as he and Sam got closer to the edge of the cliff. Colby gulped, feeling his footing starting to become more rapid and loose.
"S-Sam, what's going on?-"
"Goodbye, Colby."
And that's when Colby felt his footing slip.
