Author-san: I was taking swimming classes the past few days and suddenly got the inspiration to write this when I almost drowned ☺️

'Since when has our friendship been so ruptured?' You thought to yourself.

Looking back, it might've happened around the time you were in high school. The day you planned to confess to the girl of your dreams. You remember so clearly how long it took you to plan that day, spending sleepless nights making it the perfect day.

It was also as clear as day how badly that day went. Everything you planned went well, but the person of the night herself was missing. A promise made between the two of you was broken that same night. What hurt even more was the fact that she had stood you up for someone new into her life.

Was your friendship that fickle? Or maybe you were being too selfish to let the girl have a life outside of you two. No, it couldn't be. You had given her everything she needed, supported her whenever, and gave her the choice to herself. It was just this one promise that you'd hope she kept, yet she broke it in exchange to spend time with someone new.

"Sophia," you muttered, thinking about the girl you love. Remembering the fun times you had spent with her back in highschool, immediately frowning upon the realization of how bad the state of your life was right now.

'She'd be surprised that I'm in a worse state than her,' you chuckled at yourself, comparing your current self with the past Sophia.

You laid there, drinking more alcoholic beverages than you'd normally do. Today was the same day the smaller girl had left you. You'd normally find yourself better but today was a day where you just felt yourself down.

Moments later, the sound of your doorbell chimed. It played in the familiar pattern you'd often hear back in highschool. You honestly didn't want to face the person outside your house right now. Sadly, you had to be an adult and get it.

Standing, you dragged yourself up the door, not bothering to fix the sorry state you were in. You opened the door to the person waiting outside, already knowing who it is.

Bringing your head up, you gave a fake smile. "Hey, Sophia," a crack in your voice could be heard.

Concern spread all over the smaller girl's face. She saw the state you were in and was in complete shock. She knew you for being the bright and cheery one, the type of person who'd always bring themselves up no matter what. Seeing you right now, a pang in her chest was what she felt.

Staring at her, you asked her what she needed. You brought her attention back to you, moving closer towards the girl. She looked at you, a small tint on her face, before asking to go inside.

You felt butterflies in your stomach hearing her voice. It's been years since she has left you heartbroken, yet your everything was still stirred up by the same person. Maybe you were really stuck in the past while everyone else had grown and moved on.

Once the two of you had reached the living room, you had began tidying up the area. It wasn't necessarily dirty, simply a bit messy from all the empty leftover bottles you had been drinking.

"Sorry for the mess. I haven't been feeling right for a while. What brings you here?" You looked at the girl, sitting on your couch and drinking more alcohol as you waited for her answer.

"H-How are you?" She paused, thinking what else to say. "I-I'm sorry, Y/N." She looked at you, remorse and shame evident in her eyes.

You stared at her, at first feeling nothing about it.
