Karma Satomi
A dream will remain a dream if you don't believe and try that it is possible. They said that our future depends on what we do today. But for the past weeks, all I did was sleep and eat. I'm enjoying my rest before the opening of the new school year. I want peace of mind before the class begins, but my brother here doesn't let me continue my sleep for just an extra 5 minutes. I wasn't able to sleep well last night, so I ended up having a chat with my cousin, Arziana, and I enjoyed talking to her that I wasn't able to track the time.
"Kami, wake up," my brother said while tapping my cheeks. Half awake, I slap his hand and grab my blanket as I cover my whole body.
I heard him sighed, and before I even knew, he turned off the ceiling fan and opened the damm curtains. I frowned as I turned my back against the window.
"I need to go back, Kami. I already packed your things in your luggage, and your food was already on the table," I groaned as I sat on my bed, still closing my eyes before I nod. Gusto ko pa matulog!
"Ok, bye. Take care," he said as I felt his lips pressed on my forehead. I felt bad for not giving him a goodbye, so I took my phone and texted him instead.
Ako:
Ew.My brows knitted as I read his message.
Gago talaga.
I didn't bother to look myself in the mirror after taking a bath. Sawang sawa na ako sa pagmumukha ko. I decided to wear skinny jeans and a plain white T-shirt and paired it with my white sneakers. 'Yan na lang ang disente kong damit sa aparador dahil mukhang naimpake na ng kaptid ko ang ilan. Hind na ako nag blow dry ng buhok dahil pati ang blow dryer ay naimpake na.
I went to our dining table and saw what he cooked for me. Scrambled egg and bread. I'm not used to heavy breakfast kaya hindi na ako kumain ng kanin. I brushed my teeth after I ate. I sat in front of the electric fan while combing my hair.
My phone beeped, and Arziana's name flashed on the screen.
"Hell-"
"Oh my gosh, Kami. Nasa ibang bus ako! Help me!" Napapikit ako dahil sa bungad niya.
"What do you mean, Zian?" I said. We both passed the entrance exam, and we will study in the same school.
"I'm so stupid, Kami. I was half awake while waiting for the school bus, so when this public bus stopped in front of me ay sumakay agad ako!" She said worriedly. I bite my lips to surpress my laughs.
"Idiot. Why are you so up early, anyway? Mamaya pang alas otso ang bus," I turned off the fan and started walking to my room to get my luggage but stopped when Zian's line was dead silent.
"Zian?"
"Fuck, Kami. It's already 9," kumunot ang noo ko.
"What?" I immediately check the time in my phone, and I panicked kasi pasado alas nuwebe na nga.
9:24 am
At what time did I wake up? I don't know! Dali dali kong kinuha ang maleta at sinuguradong naka lock ang bahay bago umalis.
"Call your dad, Zian. I'm sure magpapadala kaagad siya ng sundo," I said.
"Ok, I'll update you, nalang."
I smiled widely and ran the rest of the way. I sat at the back and placed my luggage on top of my seat. I put my earphones on to listen to some music. I also texted Arziana.
Ako:
Zian:
On the way na.I didn't reply back. At least she's on the way.
I looked outside the window and as expected, trafic. Kaya naman pala naabutan pa ako. Atleast we are already on our way to the school. But, it's still hard to believe that I will study in that prestigious school considering my grades. After passing the entrance exam, the enrollment was more way hard dahil maraming hinihinging requirements. Especially since the program I applied was STEM.
I'm not good in academics, but I want to be a dentist. It's my dream. Dream to see children cry after I pull out their damage tooth. Hehe.
I closed my eyes as I felt the meaning of the song I was listening to. If I'm alone right now, I would probably sing my heart out so I mentally sung the song instead. By the way, I'm listening to better than revenge by Taylor Swift.
Soon, she's gonna find
Stealing other people's toys on the playground
Won't make you many friendsFriends. I don't have a real one. They would just probably come to me to request something or make me do things for them. That's my fault, though. I have the chance to refuse, but I can't find my voice if I said no.
She lives her life like it's a party, and she's on the list
She looks at me like I'm a trend and she's so over it
I think her ever-present frown is a little troubling
And, she thinks I'm pyscho 'cause i like to rhyme her name with thingsI opened my eyes when I felt the bus stop. I looked at the girl, newly arrived with her cute vintage dress holding her phone on her left hand and her luggage on her right hand. A group of girls stood up to call her. When she saw them, her chita eyes glittered with delight. She smiled back at them. Even with my earphones on, full volume, I can still hear them.
But no amount of vintage dresses gives you dignity~
"Aisla!"
