Draco looked around his filled ballroom. He could've expected this many people to show up. The ballroom was really beautiful. A big dancefloor in the centre surrounded by A buffet on the left side and a live Orchestra on the right. Two big stairs on the left lead down from the main corridor into the ballroom.
Although he had to admit that some ladies were beautiful or interesting.. he was looking for his unknown girl in the Woods.. you. The Royal Crier kept introducing new groups of girls.
'The Lady Tremaine and her daughters.. The very clever Miss Drisella and the very beautiful Anastasia.'
Draco eagerly watched him announce everyone but felt disappointment when he couldn't find you. Lucius stared at him, standing besides him and watching him.
'Who are you looking for?'
Draco looked at his father, unsure of what to say. He already disapproved of his interest in you.
'No one.' He lied.
'It's that girl in the forest, isn't it? That's why you were so generous with the invitations.' Lucius sighed.
Of course he knew. Everyone in the palace seemed to know who he was longing for. Not that he felt like you were going to show up anyways..
'Father, it was for the people.' Draco answered.
'I know you love the people, Draco. More than we do anyways. But I also know that your head's been turned. You've only met her once, in the forest.'
Draco snorted at the hypocrisy in that sentence. Yes, he only met you one time.. yet he would like him to get married with someone he'd meet tonight.
'And you'd have me marry someone once tonight.' Draco scoffed.
'A princess. It's a princess or nothing.'
Before Draco could reply, the Grand Duke made his way up the stairs.
'May I present her Royal Highness the Princess Chelina of Zaragosa.'
Draco looked at the lady infront of him. She had a slightly darker skin, brown long hair and Hazel eyes. She was.. gorgeous.. but not you. Draco grabbed her hand and kissed it out of curtesy.
'You are as handsome as your picture, and your little kingdom is enchanting.' She smiled.
'I hope the Princess will not find our little kingdom too confining.' Draco smiled.
While Draco made some uncomfortable small talk with the princess.. you finally arrive. The castle looked even more magical up close then you had ever seen. You couldn't believe you made it. The footmen opened the door.
'Miss Y/N.'
He extended his hand to you. You felt so special.. you suddenly didn't feel invisible anymore. You grabbed his hand and he helped you out of your carriage.
'Thank you.' You smiled.
You looked up at the palace. It suddenly intimidated you a bit and worry flood you. Would the apprentice you met be there? Would the others recognise you? Would the Prince be interested in you?
'I'm frightened, Mr. Lizard.' You said. 'I'm only a girl, not a princess.'
'And I'm only a lizard, not a footman. Enjoy it while it lasts.'
You smiled thankfully at him and took a deep breath. You placed your first foot on the lowest step and started to make your way up.
Draco gave the ballroom another glance.. disappointed that be hasn't spotted you. He wished that the upcoming first dance could be with you.
