Yoongi stood between his seven brothers. They stood in front of their thrones watching countless women be announced and stride in. None of the princesses had caught his eye at all.
"There are plenty of choices. Every allied kingdom with a princess accepted the invitation."
Namjoon smiled at a woman who curtsied in front of them before making room for the next princess.

"Who said I wanted to marry a princess?" Yoongi muttered.
"Why wouldn't you? A common girl won't know how to handle being queen." Jimin winked at two women watching nearby causing them to giggle and flea.

"That's kind of the point. A princess is brought up with wealth. A princess is born with a silver spoon in their mouth. I don't want a girl who is going to sit back and whine about everything around the palace or sneer at anything that is less than lavish. I want a wife who is going to actively help with decisions. Someone who will be by my side. I want a woman who sees me as Min Yoongi and not Prince Yoongi." Your brothers stood silently listening to your rant.

"I guess our hyung is all grown up." Taehyung and Jungkook wiped fake tears as they hugged each other.
"Then choose a village girl. Just be careful, they could be just as money hungry as a spoiled princess." Yoongi nodded and it was announced that the villagers were now welcome to join everyone else.

Yoongi watched as some people rolled their eyes and strayed away from the door. As if the village people had a disease. This is exactly why he did not want a princess. He sighed as it was the time for dances. Yoongi and his brothers danced with every princess in attendance. They all were bold enough to ask them in hopes of becoming their wives.

None of them ever looked Yoongi in the eyes. That was how it was with everyone. The unsightly scar held darkness as did his eyes. He knew the rumors about him. Which is why he wondered why anyone chose to attend. Apparently being queen was worth whatever rumor they had heard.

One girl batted her eyes too much. One was too touchy. One referred to herself as future queen and had looked around the ballroom pointing out all of the things she would change once she was queen. After dancing with everyone that had asked him, Yoongi felt hopeless. He didn't want to marry in the first place. He was doing this for the kingdom and his father. Yoongi walked around the edges of the ballroom observing everyone.

Everyone watched him in return. He could see the wariness on their faces as he circled the room. One of his brothers was approaching him but before he reached him someone bumped into his back. Yoongi turned around and found a girl much shorter than him. Clearly a village girl judging by the lack of jewelry and simple dress. She rubbed her forehead and looked up only for her eyes to widen. She curtsied and looked back up at him. Twice. She had made eye contact and held it twice now.

"I-I'm so sorry your majesty. I was not watching where I was going. I apologize for bumping into you." He watched as you mustered the best smile you could, you were clearly nervous. He didn't blame you he knew he was intimidating, and this was more than likely your first encounter with royalty.

"Y/N! There you are why did you wander off? You could have gotten kidnapped or- oh. OH. Your majesty!" The new girl curtsied much more graceful than you.
"My name is Naomi and this is my friend Y/N. Thank you for allowing us to attend your ball."
"It's my pleasure. I trust you are enjoying yourselves?" He looked at you as he spoke and noticed you biting your bottom lip out of nervousness and yet you kept eye contact as he spoke.
"Very much! Thank you!" Naomi beamed and you felt a hand fall on your shoulder.

"Ah who are these gorgeous maidens? I'm Prince Namjoon." Namjoon bowed respectfully to the girls.
"I'm Naomi and this is Y/N." The friend smiled even wider at Namjoon as they began making conversation. You stood in place glancing around the room. Yoongi noticed how a few princesses looked at you and sneered. They whispered and giggled to each other as if you were a side show attraction. He watched how you followed those girls with your eyes and turned away. A slight dip in your brows signaling that they got to you. Without thinking Yoongis hand held your own. He bowed gracefully and kissed the back of your hand before looking up at you.

"Y/N. It would be an honor to dance with you." Yoongi didn't recognize himself for a moment. What had gotten into him? His jaw clenched as you stared at your hand in his and then at him. You glanced behind him probably to your friend before staring back at him. Silently you nodded your head slowly as if you weren't sure if this were real life. The music played as he pulled you to the center of the ballroom. The crowd parted like the sea as people stood gawking at the both of you. Your eyes wandered around and your hands shook in his. He carefully positioned your hands in the correct placement helping you along.

"Y/n." Your head snapped up to him. Your face expressionless as you waited for him to continue.
"What is your age?"
"24 your majesty."
"Call me Yoongi." You nodded your head as he led the dance.

"What brings you here? Was there a reason behind your attendance or simply curiosity?" He watched as you stayed silent for a second carefully calculating your response.
"My friend actually. Until a few days ago I had been adamant about not attending. But my friend wished to go and who am I to deny her a once in a lifetime chance?" Your voice was smooth. Not high pitched like some girls though they could have forced that themselves. Yoongi ignored the way your voice tugged on something in his heart and mind.

"So, you're here to play princess for a night?" Yoongi was thrown when you smiled and chuckled. He almost missed a step in the dance.
"That is along the lines of the conversation Naomi and I had the other night when she convinced me to come here." Yoongi just nodded his head and finally looked away from you. The dance was almost over and it was approaching two am. He needed to make a decision fast otherwise his father would choose for him.

"Y/N. You interest me."
"Me? I-thank you your majesty. I don't know what I had done to draw the attention of royalty, but I appreciate the interest." For the first time since meeting you, you had finally broken eye contact. Yoongi took notice of the faint redness spreading along your cheeks and he almost smiled. As the dance came to an end you two separated. You curtsied as he bowed before once again taking your hand and placing a kiss on it. This one however was a bit longer than the first. Yoongi stood up and met your eyes once more.
"Untill next time, Y/N."
