One year later

The sun lights up the room making me smile. I suddenly felt the warmth of a arm wrapping around me. "Morning my jewel~" Shadow purred as he kissed my bare shoulder. It's been a year since we started dating and I had recently moved in last month. Main reason is because well~ "You are looking radiant this morning~" he kisses my hand and my engagement ring. Yep he proposed to me two months ago and honestly how could I possibly say no! The ring he got me was simple and had a ruby on it. I love it so much. "Thank you and you look positively handsome" i replied and turn over to face him. "So what's the plan today?" I asked. "Well I need to stop by my company to pick up a few things then I figured we could go to the park for a little picnic" he smiled. "I would absolutely love that" I smiled and kiss him.
We arrived at the large black glass building and he kisses my cheek before going inside. I waited in the car but i suddenly had to use the bathroom so I got out and went in. After I was done and started heading back to the car I heard a voice that stopped me at the door. "Rouge?" I turned around and saw my ex husband. "Knuckles I forgot you worked here" I said. "Yeah...got promoted. What are you doing here?" He asked rather nicely. "I'm here with my fiancé" I said. "Cool.....cool" Silence. "So ummm did you get that promotion you always wanted?" He asked. "I did." I smiled. "That's awesome you earned it." He said and it was genuine. "Look rouge..... I'm sorry.... What I did was.... Horrible.... And honestly karma.... Karma opened my eyes and I realized what I did to you was.... I unforgivable. I caught espio cheating on me two months in our marriage and the pain I felt well.... That's when I realized I had done the same to you.... I'm sorry I really am." He said and I could tell he meant it. "So...what are you doing now?" I asked. "After I divorced him I ran into Julie Sue and we talked then next thing I know it were married and she's pregnant with twins." He smiled. "You always wanted kids I'm happy for you." "Guess we both got what we wanted..granted it happened in the worst way" he looked down. "Hey are you happy?" I asked. "Very and you?" "Same I'm very happy" I smiled. "Lets bury the past and start over as friends sound good?" I asked. "Yeah it'll be a while but yeah" he smiled and we shook hands. "Mr. Echinda what brings you here?" Shadow said approaching. "Just came to get my files you wanted me to start on sir." He smiled. "Excellent work. Oh I see you met my fiancée. Rouge this is my top data analysis." Shadow smiled and I saw the color drain from knuckles face and my face drained. "Is everything ok?" He asked me. "We uhh actually know each other....." knuckles said clearing his throat. "Oh?" "He's my ex husband....." I said and I saw red in his eyes. "But we buried the past and everything is good between us so no harm done right knuckles." "Right" knuckles agreed. Shadow nods understanding as the anger went away. "Well I will see you Monday have a good rest of your weekend Mr. Echidna." "You too sir and congratulations to you both on the engagement" knuckles smiled genuinely. Shadow turns back to me and kisses me before walking to the door. "Thank you" knuckles mouthed and I nod before we walked behind shadow.
