"Hey Traveler, are we going to Good Hunter for dinner? I'm so hungry!"
That annoying squeaky voice belonged to my partner, Paimon. On my adventures, she's basically useless when it comes to defeating monsters and dealing with problems, but as a companion, she isn't so bad.
"Paimon, we're all the way in Sumeru. Won't it be a pain to travel all the way back to Mondstadt just to try out their specialty Sweet Madame? You know we can just go to a local street vendor or cook dinner ourselves tonight."
Rumble, Rumble
"Did you hear that Traveler? That was my stomach! Lately, you've hardly gotten any chests so your backpack is never full! And we've had food from the local street vendors a lot lately... I want something different... Like a juicy Sweet Madame from Good Hunter!"
At this point, Paimon's mouth was salivating from the thought of it.
"Ew knock it off Paimon!" I laughed "Alright fine, we'll get Good Hunter, but only because we haven't had it for a while!"
"Yippee! That's why you're the best!"
The venture to Mondstadt felt a bit awkward as if we had nothing to talk about. I kept my eyes peeled on any chests I might've missed, but the terrain was clean. I met a few familiar faces along the way, but the emptiness in my stomach still lingered.
"Umm, Traveler I have a question."
"Hit me with it Paimon."
She hesitated, but then decided to speak up
"Lately, it feels like you've been empty, like there's a hole still yet to fill. I know you're still looking for your sibling and all, but I feel like it's something different, Paimon can sense it!"
Paimon puffed out her cheeks, as if to look mad, but inside I knew she was worried for me
"Nothing can escape your eyes!" I laughed awkwardly. "But... You're right. I've met all these wonderful people on my countless adventures, yet I crave someone to fill in the hole that my brother once filled. Even if it's only temporary..."
All of a sudden, Paimon's mouth lifted into a smirk.
"So what Paimon is getting... You want a boyfriend?!"
At first I was shocked. What was Paimon getting at?!
"Hu-h?! What made you think that?! I-I don't need a lover! I crossed my arms, trying to prove a point, but my face was burning red.
"Uh huh... And you think I don't see your face turning red? Well I have an idea... In exchange, for paying for my meal tonight, I'll help you get a boyfriend!"
Before I could protest, Paimon grabbed my arm and dragged me all the way to Mondstadt
"Paimon! Let me go!"
"Nuh-uh! I don't like seeing you sad, and as your travel guide, our next destination will be Fontaine! I heard the men there were quite proper and handsome (and rich too), So I have a feeling Fontaine will be the perfect place!"
I eventually stopped protesting and let Paimon carry me along. For a small little pixie, she was surprisingly strong. How come you don't help me fight against hilichirls Paimon, are you that lazy?? Hmpt! But to be honest, Paimon's advice wasn't so bad. Maybe I do need a guy to help fill in my once empty heart...
"And we're here! Now make sure to order ten Teyvat Fried Eggs, 15 Chicken-Mushroom Skewers, 12 Fishermen's Toast, 5 Smoked Fowl, 25 Sweet Madame... Ohhh my stomach is grumbling just thinking about all the delicious food I- I mean WE get to eat! Hehe..."
I shook my head at Paimon's greediness, but that quality was very charming as well. However, Paimon let alone is the reason I'm broke in Mora majority of the time...
20 Minutes Later
"Ohhh this food is delicious! Thanks Traveler!"
Paimon then picked up a Smoked Fowl and ate it whole. My jaw dropped. How big is her stomach?!
"Paimon, don't forget about the whole boyfriend thing, okay?"
Paimon then looked shocked
"I was just joking about that Traveler, I didn't actually mean it hehe... I was just teasing you!"
Her eyes then widened
"Wait a second... You actually agreed to it?! I thought you were just going with the flow!"
She then stuffed a Sweet Madame in her mouth
"Well if you're being genuine, nod your head, if not, shake it. Paimon will support you for whatever you choose!"
I thought about things carefully, 'Did I really want to do it?'
I then chose my final decision
I nodded.
