The period that followed this simple question appeared to last an eternity. Fred ran through every possible situation in his mind, as he waited for Hermione's response.

Would she laugh?

Would she scream and run away?

Would she completely flip out?

Fred was terrified.

After what felt like years, he felt his torso being hugged tightly. Shaking away the thoughts, he looked down and saw Hermione was holding him closer than ever before. Instinctively, Fred himself wrapped his arms around her waist, holding him close against him and the pair stood like that for at least ten minutes.

"Me and George are leaving soon." Fred said as it dawned on him this wouldnt last long.

"I thought as much. Youre not nearly as secretive as you make out." Hermione said, releasing Fred reluctantly and looking up at him.

"So?" Fred asked again, biting his bottom lip with anxiety. Hermione brushed his lip slightly with her thumb. "Dont do that."

Accidentally, Fred bit down too hard and drew a small amount of blood. Rolling her eyes, Hermione said in the same tone she had used years earlier, "What. An. Idiot."

As she said this, her eyes lit up, brighter than a room full of diamonds and Fred knew he had gotten his answer.

Bending down slightly, Fred kissed the top of her head. "My girlfriend."

The two words tasted foreign in his mouth when saying them out loud and yet so perfect.

Hermione pulled herself completely away from Fred's grip. "I have homework, see you in the common room later?"

"Of course. I'm going to tidy up in here." Fred was slightly disappointed but not surprised. He had hoped to have the afternoon together in the Room. Talking and getting to know each other even more. Still, Hermione always had an assignment to complete. Especially since she was in her OWL year.

And with that Hermione walked away, and Fred could not remember a time he had felt this happy; maybe when they had won their first quidditch game?

But as Hermione walked away a sense of dread hit her; what would she tell Draco?
