6:23 PM"Are you sure that's a crush? Or is he just bat shit crazy obsessed?"
Mia gave a coy smile, tucking her hair behind her ear and Illy thought she saw a tinge of pink rise in her cheeks, "That was my reaction too," She said as she hopped out of the chair, "He's the last person I'd expect to have such a strong romantic attraction to anyone."
She then sighed wistfully, "I wonder who the lucky gal could be. Or guy, if that's his preference, I really hope it isn't. I need a fighting chance."
Lucky? Illy wanted to say something against that, but she held her tongue.
"I suppose he slunk off to the penthouse then?" Dominik asked.
"Uh-huh," Mia nodded, "He got the inhibitors working so I ordered him a cold shower and a change of scenery. Oh, did you two decide to come with us to the show after all? He sounded sure that you would."
Dominik glanced at Illy, "With all the fuss I'm not so sure that's a good idea."
"Fuss?" Mia raised both her brows in question, "Did something happen to set him off?"
"It's too long of a story," Dominik said quickly as he glanced at Illy once more, "I think I- we- need to have a talk with him about a certain issue first. Do you mind?"
"Aw," Mia whined in slight disappointment, "Okay. Oh, can you remind him that I'm wearing blue, just in case he wants to match?"
Dominik gave a soft laugh before leading Illy from the room whose legs were still shaking like jelly as they rode the elevator up to the penthouse suite.
It'll be over soon, She hoped to herself.
They stepped into the expansive living area a short minute later and Dominik led the way past the dining room adjacent to the kitchen whilst she followed behind him.
Through the open windows, she could see the large balcony with it's impressive view of the surrounding cityscape and the vista stretching northward toward the downtown area.
Maybe she should throw herself from there. It would certainly be quieter in her head then.
"Hol vagy, testvér?" [Where are you, brother?] Dominik called as he peeled out of his suit jacket, hanging it on the coat rack behind him.
The suite was large, at least three bedrooms, but it appeared sparsely decorated, and seemed more like an art gallery than anything with the walls covered in various artwork that seemed a tad out of the ordinary.
A surreal painting of melting faces hung next to a minimalist sculpture of a headless dancer that seemed to defy gravity as it twirled in place.
A series of abstract portraits lined another wall, each face distorted in a different way, as if reflecting the myriad facets of the human experience and Illy cast curious glances around the room, her eyes coming to rest on the only normal looking portrait of a woman that hung over the long black couch.
