Padme and I had now landed. We dragged our luggage across a square of Naboo that looked familiar. R8-D8 followed us and whistled an amused little song, as if Theed's pleasant charisma had already completely taken him over. Padme kept casting furtive glances at me, noticingt hat I looked more relaxed and that my grin was getting wider.

"If I grew up here, I don't think I would ever want to leave."I told her as we walked past a big fountain, causing Padme laughed. " I don't doubt that " I shook my head in disagreement. "No, really. When I started my training like my brother, I was very homesick and very lonely. This planet and my mom were the only pleasant things I had to think about."

Padme looked at me curiously and confused. "The problem was." I continued. " was the more I thought about my mom, the worse I felt. But I would feel better if I thought about the palace. The way it shimmers in the sunlight or the way, the air always smells of flowers." "And the soft sounds of the distant waterfalls." Padme added and smiled at me. She knew exactly what I meant.

"The first time I remember seeing the capital. I was very young, I had never seen a waterfall before." She said and let out a laugh. "I thought they were very beautiful." She smirked and looked around. "I never dreamed one day that I'd ever live in the palace."

" Well, tell me. Did you dream of power and politics, when you were a litttle girl?" "No, that was the last thing I thought of. " She laughed as we trotted up the steps of the palace, R8-D8 behind us. "I wasn't the youngest Queen ever elected, but now that I think back on it, I'm not sure I was old enough. I'm not sure I was ready."

"The people youserved thought you did a good job. I heard they tried to amend the Constitution so you could stay in office." I replied. As we both got older, we understood things like politics better, we could talk about it like adults.

"Popular rule is not democracy, Timmy. It gives the people what they want, not what they need. And, truthfully, I was relieved when my two terms were up. So were my parents. "Padme said  with smile.

"They worried about me during the blockade and couldn't wait for it all to be over. Actually, I was hoping to have a family by now..."Padme fell silent. She turned then a little, for she had blushed. Then she looked at me again. "My sister has the most amazing, wonderful kids. But when the Queen asked me to serve as Senator, I couldn't refuse her. "

"I agree with her. I think the republic needs you." Even if it had not been my intention, Padme's face turned red again and when I turned my gaze to her, Padme's shoes certainly seemed more interesting to her.

"I'm glad you chose to serve." When Padme had collected herself she looked up again, for a short moment space and time seemed to stand still when her eyes met mine. Quickly she directed her gaze forward again, determinedly she walked with me towards the palace.

We arrived at the great palace and since Padme knew her way around, we simply strolled to the throne room where the royal council and servants were sitting at the queen's side." We were worried about you! I'm glad you're back, Padme. "
