"Clemency. Why does Acedia keep calling you Clementine?" Lethargy questioned as he sat in a table, in the pond room. "Isn't that just annoying to you? At least a little?"
With her blue eyes swirling, Clemency just kept smiling as she sat in the table as well. "Annoying? They're more stress-inducing than annoying to me. It's like having a little sister that is older than me," she described as she poured honey lemon tea for the two of them. "It feels so refreshing to be a bit taller than them. Wouldn't you agree, Lethargy?"
He scribbled on the 57th page as he replied with clear disagreement,"It sure isn't. I just hate it whenever Acedia plants their feet on my head and poses all cool. Haven't they tried doing that to you?" Lethargy looked up from his papers that he was writing on.
Only to see that Clemency was still smiling.
"All I wonder is how Acedia always has the cleanest shoes. Their polishing skills are quite enviable," Clemency laughed lightly as Lethargy took a sip of the tea. "Their shoes are so shiny that even the sun is blinded."
The pond-like ceiling was scenic as the blue lights from above made quite a spotlight.
"You're definitely exaggerating their shoes. They always throw it into the convenient pocket spaces that their white hair is," Lethargy voiced as he blew the hot tea once more. "Acedia never wears the same pair of shoes, out of wanting to always feel young."
Clemency held her teacup as she answered with honesty,"That's a bit wasteful, isn't it? For an Duke, I expected better. Especially since youth is just a sad dream of humans. It's a pity that they grow wrinkles." She frowned a little playfully as she placed her teacup down onto the circular glass table.
"Aren't wrinkles just experience lines? I always find many others with those and end up envying them quite often," Lethargy commented thoughtfully as he neatened his pile of written papers. "Humans look better when they're all wrinkled in my opinion."
"Interesting opinion," Clemency said as she sipped her lemon honey tea some more. "So you think humans look better in their old age? Hmm.. Quite peculiar. Is it at their expected lifespan's appearance? Or those at the highest level of age for their kind?"
Lethargy hummed before he then replied,"I say those at the expected lifespan looks the best in their prime. It gives me an odd sense of relief when I look at them." Lethargy took more sips of his cup of tea upon finishing neatening the pile of papers that he wrote.
"Ah. That reminds me," Clemency started as she looked up to the ceiling. "Have you ever had spiders in your ears? Or dreamt of having ants crawl up your skin? Supposedly, these are expected feelings for the Apathy?"
He nodded.
The ringing silence chirped.
He finished his tea soon as he responded,"Of course. The spiders of my eyes tend to move at times when I am asleep. Ants crawling up the skin tends to be a feeling that I used to have, when I was younger and had foggy eyesight." He poured himself some more tea.
"Do continue?"
"It's like being born to me. I had the feeling of cold dread whenever I made each move and choices," Lethargy explained as he stared at the swirling tea of the cup. "There was an instinct to just not care about what I hated. Even when I was on execution, I felt myself to not care much. Not at all."
Clemency attentively finished her cup of tea as she conversed serenely,"How expected of the Apathy branch of us all. I do sometimes wonder if the Seclusion branch matters, if at all. They're so ordinary and plain." She took the teapot to have it cascade the last remains of the tea.
"It must be nice to rest without worries and more complexities," Lethargy answered after he savoured his tea slowly. "By the way, when do you think Mirror's going to show up? She's been gone for a bit too long than usual."
"Than usual? It'll be fine. Acedia informed me that Mirror was working full-time on an important spy-like assignment," Clemency assured as she smiled with cheer. "It's all about interviewing the residents of Acedia's district undercover. They said the process would take a long time as there are so many residents present."
Lethargy remarked,"That's weird, isn't it?"
