Ah. Wearing this long orange wig again. I stared at myself in the mirror. Cenobia was busy feeding on its small box of batteries in the background, upon the tidy bed.
"Leniency," I mumbled to myself as my brown eyes stood out to my blurry version. "Time to work and interview the residents."
I couldn't see things from far away without my glasses. Not to mention that my eyesight is awful in my opinion. Hopefully I'll survive and act normal enough without rising suspicion to any of the residents here.
Cautiously, I took out an black ribbon and wrapped it into an accessory. A precaution to keep the wig tied down to my head, in case anything upside down or crazy occurs. I looked alright; fairly approachable I think?
With some confidence, I headed out.
"Neighbour!" Treat greeted as he approached with a carefree nature. "You haven't been out of your room for so long that many thought you were dead! Or that Duke Acedia had you assassinated over how tense or dull you are. Thank goodness!"
Oh. Alright. Time to smile and nod.
It feels weird to smile widely.
"Haha.. Me? Killed? That's just so- so weird!" I exclaimed, attempting to smile most naturally with a vivid extroverted feeling. "I could never! No way. And how terrible do you think Duke Acedia is? Ha!"
Treat shot a bat from the ceiling that flew by, as he commented,"Terribly terrible. There's rumours about how Duke Acedia is insane! Imagine not using teleportion at their disposal!" He quickly nabbed the dead bat effortlessly whilst he conversed to me.
"By the way, how often do bats linger here?" I inquired curiously with squinted eyes.
"Bats are everywhere," Treat stated lively. "Sometimes there exists huge construction areas where caves are being filled up. Bats do arrive here quite frequently and I had to take my crossbow to get their corpses."
I then asked with interest,"You don't technically hunt them on purpose, right?"
He clarified bluntly,"I don't. I always kill one whenever I feel that the current one is rotting. The corpses tends to be in fridges." Gift casually pocketed the dead bat.
"Oh. So anyways, what's your opinion on living here?" I questioned. "I'm just curious."
Sharply he delivered,"I don't live here. I live in the walls of the hallways. Technically, I am homeless since I work as the backup." Treat then calmly hopped into an hole.
Wait. There are missing gaps in the floor?! Isn't that really dangerous?! I almost didn't notice if it wasn't for Gift hopping into one.
I then walked off, dodging the occasional gaps in the pale green floorboards. Into the place that is somewhere? I don't know where I am actually going. Acedia had never given me a map of their district's layout.
I an just walking around aimlessly.
